Fish Market Adventure in Hoi An was the title of the tour and what an adventure it was. An early start for Huy ng, there was a storm brewing and so the fishermen was sitting drinking coffee and playing cards, it was still dark outside and the women of the village were busy selling the fish. Everyone was fascinated to learn that people from around the world were watching them. One lady sang us a so Read on...
It rained all day today and it was a proper steady/heavy rain so decided to mostly just have a lazy mall day today. I did however drive up to Alnes to drive a bit along the coast and to see the lighthouse. Lol driving in the rain, high winds, next level mist - I was soaked through and through lol but it was a cool eerie feeling to see the clouds so low. I grabbed some cake at the cafe in Alnes a Read on...
Next day, we went to visit the Everglades national park. This was the place I was most eager to see in this trip. The Southern part of Florida is almost tropical. There are 2 distinct seasons: dry and wet. In the winter, we were in the dry season. This is the best time to visit as animals are concentrated around waterholes. We saw countless birds, alligators, turtles, snakes, fish, etc.... Diff Read on...

On October 20th 2020, The New Yorker magazine published an interview between Isaac Chotiner and Noam Chomsky provocatively entitled Noam Chomsky Believes Trump Is ‘the Worst Criminal in Human History. This naturally caught my attention. Compared to a Hitler or a Stalin, who were directly responsible for the deaths of millions of people, how could Donald Trump possibly be the worst criminal in h Read on...

It rained again during the night. Quite a lot actually! When we went out to meet our driver, Lin, there were huge puddles in the unmade road outside and we had to pick our way to the Mercedes minivan to keep our feet dry. But, before we left our room for our day trip we had made sure that we would have everything we might need in our day packs. Raincoat, tick, water, tick, toilet paper, tick and Read on...
We spent most of the day exploring the many caves of Maquoketa Caves State Park. It is so nice to go at your own pace and enjoy these caves without a guide. They did a great job carving out paths through the wildflowers and through the wet flooring of the caves. Nate was extremely excited to see little chipmunks running around. He made us return to the dance hall in the large cave many times so he Read on...
Started the day on time, but it was still hard to get up. Breakfast is included in our room rate. Normally that means a simple continental and maybe some scrambled eggs and sausage. Here it meant a waffle bar, omelet bar, a hot bar with everything to make your own Full Irish (same thing as a full English) and many other items. Just kept it simple and had some eggs, sausage and toast. Jerry added y Read on...
So day two or is it, that is the question as I had a really bad nights sleep. The air conditioning was so loud and coupled with that Mike decided that tonight he was going to snore like an elephant - not that I have heard an elephant snore, ha ha but I am sure Mike could have given a herd of elephants a run for their money. So up and a cup of tea (brewed by Mike as usual he told me to add haha) l Read on...
