This morning weve arranged to do a tour of the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. We meet our guide, Thomas, who tells us that hes a French travelling salesman, and that hes 112 years old. Were perhaps struggling a bit with that last bit, but at least hes dressed the part.
Were told that the Chateau is named after Louis de Buade de Frontenac who was a much loved Governor General of New France in the Read on...
After arriving in Cobar we refilled water tanks and emptied at the dump point before heading out to Meralda Station on the outskirts of the town and where we will be free camping for 2 nights. The Station is small to some covering only 400 acres. It carries a few sheep but from what we could see the land is fairly poor quality and unfortunately, following the recent lengthy droughts, has been take Read on...
Well, this evening after watching Strictly I jetted off to Melbourne for a tour of the Graffiti Lanes of the city with Josh our guide at 8am on a wet Sunday morning.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, much of the citys disaffected youth were influenced by the graffiti of New York City, which then became popular in Melbournes streets and alleys.
Nosier Lane was a short walk from Flinders Street stat Read on...
Yesterdays diving was good, exploring a couple of coral gardens. The first one was called Fucilleri after the fish that tend to congregate there. Urich II was taken prisoner together with his 12 vassals and eventually released on one specific condition. Every year on Holy Thursday the Patriarch was obliged to pay a tribute to Venice that included a bull and 12 pigs which than were slaughtered in the Piazz Read on...
What an absolute pearler of a morning and although our room at the Te Kaha Resort essentially faced west it was still quite magical to see the pink appear in the clear sky out our bedroom window.
One of little luxuries with this 3 night,4 day road trip is that neither of has to prepare breakfast for the other.
So it was two poached eggs with bacon on toast and a hot strong, long black to go with Read on...
When my friend, Mike, saw my HCMC bedroom for the first time, he described it as my shrine. A fitting epithet. The Cambridge dictionary defines ‘shrine as ‘a place for worship that is holy because of a connection with a holy person or object. Well, my bedroom is festooned with photos of holy people – my parents, my friends and myself! I marginally prefer ‘sanctum sanctorum (holy of holies) Read on...
Nature rewarded us with its magnificent ruggedness of the Great Australian Bight, sunshine and marine life, notably whales. The photos are spread over the 200kms of the mighty Bunds Cliffs to an end at Head of Bight. The morning was cold to begin with, however the day quickly warmed, and the cloud cleared. We stopped at all the lookouts with their solid walkways and viewing platforms. Head of Bigh Read on...
