On our way to our hotel last night we stopped for fuel and our driver, Omar told us to go out by the house in the back. There we were buzzed hundred of birds who were protecting their nests. It looked like something out of Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds. Arriving at our hotel for the night we spotted a nearby church and a few of us went to explore. It was a Earthen structure covered by soil and Read on...
Lets start with a continuation of yesteday afternoon, waiting in the Echuca railway station for our 3:53pm train to Bendigo. We had nearly 2 hours to wait for the train which was why I was able to get the blog out early. With time still to kill before the train was due to depart I happened to glance down at Jeffs rear tyre. It appeared the Karma bus back for a second swipe as it was flat. I tried Read on...
Our Trip began at 4:45am. We were pretty much packed up the night before, so just needed to get ready, have some coffee, and leave for John and Dianes house. The limo was there promptly at 7:00, and the drive to Logan Airport was pretty quick. No traffic due to the holiday. Check in went without a hitch, with John getting his perfunctory pat down by TSA. Im starting to think he puts metal on his b Read on...
We left again at about 6:30am, and quickly left town and entered Ayegui. At the entrance to the town they had a sign saying 100 kilometers. Hmm, Im pretty sure its been more than 100. The towns are basically right next to each other. In 2015, we passed through Estella accidentally and stopped at the municipal albergue of Ayegui. Just like in 2015, the store on the corner where you turn to go uphil Read on...
On the eve of the 2022 World Series: From 2008: Fall is a great time of the year for sports fans. College and pro football are the big draws. But it is also time for the Fall Classic, the Major League Baseball World Series, a uniquely American event that has no equal in the world. As a kid, the games were rarely on television, and certainly not in prime time. I was fortunate to get to attend sever Read on...
The view from our cabin is of Caribbean blue sea and a few moored boats; on the shore are palms and mangrove trees. Weve been woken by the grackles who roost in these trees and like to sing and quark soon after sunrise. It is hard to be upset by their calls, the morning air is pleasantly cool and we will breakfast on the first floor terrace and take in that view. Getting to the island of Caye C Read on...
Today we were keen to leave early and head straight to Coral Bay, a two and half hour drive from where we were. The place was packed, an obvious popular tourist destination as the waters were clear, turquoise and bright blue with white beaches and a reef only 200 metres away. The little town had one side of caravan and tourist parks and the other had the small shopping precinct, including a coupl Read on...
We started our 2nd day going back to the Black Sand Beach. We were able to climb some rocks and go into the famous basalt sea cave, which is only accessible at low tide, and see loads of rock nesting birds. The scenery here was stunning. The Legend of the Trolls, the two tall standing rocks, arrived in Iceland as stowaways on Viking Ships and made their homes in caves and cliffs. They stay in the Read on...
Looking for a peaceful beach to unwind, heal spiritually, and soak up some sun, ushered me to on the Big Island Hawaii. Kona pleasantly surprised me. The island vibe captured my heart immediately. Now, it is my favorite destination. Royal Kona Resort became my home away from home on my first trip. I chose this hotel because it had all the amenities I sought. This way I would not have to leave the Read on...
Read on...
