We spent most of the day exploring the many caves of Maquoketa Caves State Park. It is so nice to go at your own pace and enjoy these caves without a guide. They did a great job carving out paths through the wildflowers and through the wet flooring of the caves. Nate was extremely excited to see little chipmunks running around. He made us return to the dance hall in the large cave many times so he could hear himself sing. Today was nice because we took a break and ate lunch. Then we sat outside to enjoy the cool weather, Nate fell asleep, began to snore, and I took a selfie with him. In the afternoon, Nate and Daisy climb down into Wye cave. This is a narrow, muddy, and pitch black cave. Daisy describes the rocks feeling as ice due to the coldness in the cave. This was Daisys favorite cave. However, Nates was the Dance Hall which he made us return to again in the afternoon with a speaker in tote.
