Knowing I had a long drive today I was up early and on the road by seven. Unlike the night before I had fueld up before I stopped so there were no delays. The drive across the top of Superior is long. Thats true but its pretty too. Lots of rock cuts, elevation changes and of course Lake Superior popping out of the trees on occasion. This marks the third time Ive done it. Twice from the East and un Read on...
Not sure of location as weve jumped from Portugal to Spain several times. No we are in Spain for the night and tomorrow we bus to Salamanca. Its meant to be quite something, tell you tomorrow.
off the dance floor where Lee and I were the young couple. Scary sight seeing 80 plus year olds doing the twist or dancing to Abba. Thankfully no photos.
Below is the stuff I typed during the day. It does Read on...
OMG cannot believe a month up, this trip has been one of chillaxing, recharging and indulging in the wonderful food that Bali has to offer. Lots of long walks checking out all our old haunts, strolls on the beaches, lots of pool time and deciding where our next dinner is going to be! The weather has been superb, around 30 each day, just one afternoon of heavy rain so just the perfect environment t Read on...
Greetings from London. Last week I got back from an epic week adventure around the Nordic lands of Europe. As with my last trip around New England, I thought it best if this time I simply wrote notes as I travelled, and wrote up the proper blog entries upon my return home. This worked out well again this time, as again it meant I got to spend more time travelling and seeing the wonders of these a Read on...
A banner in front of a temple. Back when I worked for an airline in Bangkok, I encountered a fair bit of human trafficking. If an inadmissible person was sent back to Bangkok, we were stuck if they did not have their real travel documents with them because they could not reenter Thailand. The solution was to send the trafficked person to Cambodia. The syndicates who smuggled them would send a runn Read on...
The plan for today and Monday was to take our time on the 450km interesting roads journey from our guesthouse in Skagastrnd via a midway stop at Hlmavk at the entrance to the Westfjords, an area that most tourists to Iceland pass on by, mostly because it is remote, to our destination Isafjordur.
Our chosen route - sorry, scratch that, Pauls chosen route - was to be our first extensive use of Ice Read on...
Take a walk through the village this morning, first to the site of the stone pillar that the Sufi mystic, Muabara Kadam Wakhani (there are multiple spellings of everything here, you will see the K and Q are pretty interchangeable), fashioned into a solar calendar. We then reach the museum which is a reconstructed Wakhan house, each of the rooms displaying various artifacts, books, poems, letters a Read on...
It must have been overcast during the night as there was no frost on the ground outside our cottage at Tophouse, near St Arnaud but it was still decidedly chilly.
The rising sun on the Mt Robert just across the lake from the DOC office down in the village was stunning and the forecast for the day was promising now that the weather bomb was spinning off to the east far to the south of the country a Read on...
Today we made our way back to the Gibb River Road before stopping at Galvans Gorge. We had a lovey swim there.
Later that afternoon we arrive at Drysdale River Station, which runs 9000 head of cattle across more than 1 million acres.
We had a lovely lunch and then checked into our motel style cabins for the night. The telephone box was fashioned out of an upright freezer.
Our breakfast this mor Read on...
Ils doivent probablement y per Read on...
