When I started writing this blog, I started of tour v/s organized tour as Ladakh is still fresh in mind. Then I decided to keep that chapter at the end.
It is interesting to know that Sikkim was an independent State / Nation protected by India till 1975. After internal political turmoil, a referendum was held and by overwhelming majority, people of Sikkim decided to a part of India. Sikkim beca Read on...
I once spent a summer holiday on the Isle of Anglesey in my years, so my memories are somewhat hazy about this location. On the bright side, it will be as though Im visiting for the first time and will view it thru adult eyes. When looking at a map of the United Kingdom, Anglesey strongly resembles a head with lots of long hair and an open mouth, sitting atop a body which is the country of Wales Read on...
Wanting to visit Saudi Arabia is not a new thing for me. This Middle Eastern country has been on my list for years, but it was not so simple as an American female tourist. The notion of just hopping on a plane and landing in the desert wasnt always that easy.
I remember in December 1999 we were in Aqaba, Jordan awaiting the long anticipated arrival of 2000 and we hired a guy to drive us to the Jo Read on...
Today was our second day trip and it started at 7am with a very than yesterday, the guide was more of a driver than guide. Apparently he has been a truck driver in Coventry, they must have given a collective sigh of relief when he left. There were only five tourists, so we were in a six seater car, one guy was in the front (Oleg), plus a couple who live in Dubai, the lady, Darli is from Burma and Read on...
Seems odd starting this blog back in Porlock and part of me has thought why bother...but I need to get it down on paper, as one of the pleasures is reading it back months later, so here we go!
The border back into the South of France was surprisingly a check point with a good amount of checking, but luckily not us!
It was an early start to the day as we were going to spend the day in Monaco. Luc Read on...
Todays objective was to not repeat our visit to Chessington of 15 years ago. Charlottes enthusiasm for the Dragons Fury roller coaster was dampened significantly on the way up, with the chant of ‘I want to get off, I want to get off! echoing around the park. No such issue for Eloise who spent a large portion of the time in the hour plus long queue wanting to get on. Lucky it was worth the wait!

This is the old castle that houses the museum. It originates from the beginning of the 13th century. It had many alterations over time, and was heavily damaged in the First World War. The front towers were restored. The museum explains very well what happened. And it makes you very sad to learn how many millions of soldiers died. In the battle of the Somme, which happened in this area in 1916 over Read on...
We are back in Dublin as I write this entry, but I remember it very clearly. The day started with and early breakfast, pretty much the first ones there so everything was freshly put out. I even dared the sunny side up eggs, they were actually pretty ok. I drank three cups of coffee and got one to go as I needed to be alert for the first part of the trip.
We picked up our rental car from Europcar Read on...
Today we were keen to leave early and head straight to Coral Bay, a two and half hour drive from where we were. The place was packed, an obvious popular tourist destination as the waters were clear, turquoise and bright blue with white beaches and a reef only 200 metres away.
The little town had one side of caravan and tourist parks and the other had the small shopping precinct, including a coupl Read on...
We slept in a little due to the time change from the last week, so we werent riding until around 9am. Out of Fenton Georgia, our route took us immediately onto a winding country road past the local golf club which was in pristine condition. Manicured tees and fairways and a Mansion of a Clubhouse. It looked very upmarket for a country town.
This road took us through another forest interspersed wi Read on...
