Greetings! I write this one from Sheffield this time. I dont think Ive ever written one from my home city before, though I guess times such as these are rather unusual and unprecedented. I write once more on the eve before a big trip – my biggest trip since summer 2019. I am excited to be getting back on the travelling road again, after such a long time away from it. I have indeed done some shor Read on...
Here wo go again. Ray Charles sang it in 1979 already. Now it is our turn to sing it. And Linda and I have reasons to sing. After three years of self imposed quarantine we hit the road again. With our little Volkswagen Polo well leave The Netherlands, cross Germany, cross Czech Republic, cross Slovakia, slowly traveling from spot to spot. Near the border with the Ukraine we will turn and travel ba Read on...
Today was a free day for us but we really wanted to get back to the British Museum. We only saw 2 rooms when we went on Day 1, and we had tickets for a concert at Royal Albert Hall in the evening.
Again, we dressed for the concert. Fortunately, it wasnt raining so we were able to wear our normal shoes, not the rain gear.
Having been in Greece and Rome this summer, we were most anxious to see the Read on...
Today had been scheduled to be a nice quiet boring day, at least until last night when they announced that there wasnt enough water in the canals for us to make it to the Danube. We thought there would be enough water, but not quite. Fortunately, Viking has been through this all before and what they do is called a ship swap. While we have been proceeding from Amsterdam to Budapest in the Viking Li Read on...

Yes, I have been to the places that invented these ten classic and iconic foods. Of the most famous ten, here are the three I have visited: OK, this one is open to heated debate. But many sources say that brothers Pat and Harry Olivieri invented this locally beloved meat bomb when they were running a hot dog stand near South Philadelphias Italian Market in the 1930s. The sandwich started out with Read on...
After a sound sleep we woke to a pretty pink sky and noted the wind had picked up a bit; luckily we had an old stone building to duck behind to cook without issue and the wind helped dry the tent out quickly so all was good.
An easy, known, downward stroll to ivybridge (via some viewpoint tops) and of course we popped into a cafe for some brunch which was delicious. After picking up supplies for Read on...
We wake to the sound of raindrops. Milduras technically in the desert, so this wasnt part of the plan.
We drive along the riverbank past the same palatial houseboats that we saw in the half light last night, including one called Mungo Creek Rehab. I suppose if you needed rehab of some sort thered be plenty of worse places to do it. We stop for lunch at a cafe at the impressive and relatively new Read on...
After few amazing days in and around Chobe in Botswana...we are moving to Zambia. Thats one more Covid test, and on my side, just the 5th one in less than two weeks. This is indeed the new world, better get used to it. We have transfered from Kasane to Livingstone. Interesting, its exactly the same distance, around 100km, but the price of the private transfer is simply half of the one from Victori Read on...
