Greetings from London. Last week I got back from an epic week adventure around the Nordic lands of Europe. As with my last trip around New England, I thought it best if this time I simply wrote notes as I travelled, and wrote up the proper blog entries upon my return home. This worked out well again this time, as again it meant I got to spend more time travelling and seeing the wonders of these a Read on...
Over two billion people worldwide rely on rice as their primary food. According to new study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, increasing levels of carbon dioxide are not only warming the planet, but also severely lowering the nutritional value of key crops like rice. rice has dramatically less iron, zinc, and B vitamins.
Speaking of rice and Japan: Did you know there are over 30,000 certif Read on...
We saw two contrasting Metro station entrances, an art Nouveau style that I had seen on a previous virtual trip and a very colourful one that was created to mark the metros 100th birthday in 2000. It is an arched of many strands of differently sized and colored glass beads. How cool is that !

The last few weeks have been a roller coaster of highs and lowsyet again, and I apologise for not writing earlier but its hard to write an interesting and witty blog when you are feeling down. Weve had a run of good days so Im in a better mood for writingso here goes.

We had an early start – and a long day but we made the entire narrow part of the loop before dark, so that was a success. What was NOT a success was that, after promising the kids we would all swim in the 7 sacred pools at the end – we found out that it was no longer allowed. Covid? Insurance liability? Dont know, but it would have been nice to have known. Davids photos show some of the beauty Read on...
So we decided to head up the highway to Cape Cod. We were going to aim for Provincetown as it was up the Cape quite a way, but then decided on Hyannis instead since it was just under an hour of travel for us. Good decision.
We arrived in town, and we were following the directions when the GPS hiccupped and I continued going straight instead of making a right turn. We ended up at Keyes Memorial Be Read on...
St Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. While I have been here a few times already, at the beginning of this year I finally got the chance to explore beyond the port area and learned a bit more about the customs and culture of the island. I signed up for a tour to that gave us the opportunity to try ourselves in the art of chocolate making. From the port in Castries it was Read on...
We stayed in Salerno for four days in a beautiful Airbnb with a view of the castle from the rooftop terrace. My was that none of the other places we stayed in But its not ideal if you are travelling by car. We had to park the car a few kilometers away in the free parking next to the train station. And paid parking (and expensive) - On our last night we managed to drive in to a ZTL zone and got a f Read on...
I wanted to do something fun so I decided to find some ghost towns in Northern Cherokee County, Texas. I drove Texas Hwy 204 into Cherokee County. There was a half mile where Texas Highways 235 & 2274 overlapped where I found the Historic Marker for Lone Star ghost town. Right by the marker was the Lone Star Ranch.
I circled around to Cherokee County Road 4601 and found Myrtle Springs Cemetery fo Read on...
The weather is now treating us well. Sunny for most of the day. A headwind for the first half and then in our favour. We had a snack in Killybegs, which is a big crushing port, but light on cafes open on a Sunday so we ate at a Mace convenience store before travelling along what is one of the most spectacular coastal roads in Ireland. The road went up and down but provided some great views of sand Read on...
