Happy Thanksgiving to all!! This is a story I wrote about years ago. The pecan Santa hangs in a place of honor on my tree.
The old man sat in the old overstuffed chair, sipping his apple cider with brandy, and listening to Jingle Bell Rock playing softly in the background. As he had always done, he had put up his Christmas tree, set out a few of the Dickens village buildings and figurines, and s Read on...
As promised, although I dont think I actually did... but here are my favorite Maine State Parks and Historical Sites. I think Im going to try and rank them... we shall see.
This may have gotten on the list because it was the final stamp we needed. Not many people are going camping up in Northern Maine, with that being said, it makes for a relaxing and quiet destination.
Why I Love It: Its seclud Read on...
This day started like all the others. We get up, get ready for the day, take our luggage to the bus, and go to breakfast. We always have appointed times to do all these things. I usually set an alarm on my phone so Im not late to the bus.
Today our goal was The Blarney Castle, The Ring of Kerry, and overnight n Killarney. I enjoy the bus ride to and from places. Many people sleep, but not meIm to Read on...
This long weekend Cheryl and I decided to run away to Helen, GA for the weekend. For those that do not know, Cheryl is my twin sister and we have a habit of impromptu road trips from time to time. We decided on Helen, Georgia because we have beach plans for Spring Break and we have fun memories of Helen in our college years.

After my first two days exploring the urban towns and cities of this far corner of England, I planned for my second two days to explore the more rural regions of the area. After a lovely journey up the coast on the train, we arrived at Edinburgh. It was a short walk from the station to where we were staying. was smooth and I loved the view from our room across the Grassmarket. I have only really briefly been to the Grassmarket before on previous trips to Edinburgh, so was looking forward to spending more time here. After getting sorted, it was time to head out and Read on...
We head down to Cable Beach for a walk, and see it for the first time with the tide in. Rocks that were several hundred metres back from the water the last time we were here are now being pounded by the surf. Wed wondered why someone had bothered to install a path up over the cliff behind the rocks; now we know. We wade through the surf around the rocks. In stark contrast to when the tides out the Read on...
Dublin is full of history and on the heygo virtual tour today we learnt so much in such a short space of time. We were able to briefly go inside two cathedrals St. Patricks & the oldest Cathedral Christchurch originally 1028 & rebuilt in stone in 1170 with his magnificent floor tiles. We crossed over the River Liffey & walked down one of the oldest streets in Dublin, Fishamble Street and viewed a Read on...
Monday (Oct 3) was a pretty chill last day in Lecce. We had a leisurely morning, with a breakfast of scrambled eggs and mushrooms, cheese and tomatoes, and toast, made by Susan. Delicious! I found another tailor on google, in the continuing quest to get my pantsuit hemmed, and success! The little tailor shop was just a short walk away, and we were helped along the way by really nice locals, one of Read on...
