It has been a funny old week . It still feels odd not to see Gabby on the front drive . We still receive copies of Practical Motorhome - the last may have arrived this week . We will continue to receive MMM magazine until the end of the year. We have spent time ringing the Netherlands to stop the ACSI card , cancelling the Camping and Caravan club memberships and cancelling this and that . Each ca Read on...
On Thursday, October 17th, we arrived in the coastal city of Essaouira from the vibrant city of Marrakesh. As much as I enjoyed that great city, and even earlier visiting the red sand desert climes of the Sahara, I couldnt wait to be near the ocean again. Visiting Essaouira and reveling along her Atlantic shores is a panacea for anyone who, like me, cannot resist the siren call of the sea.

Super Bowl 47 will start this afternoon. I will be there to watch the Forty Niners. I became a fan in the Fifties, when two players from my hometown, offensive tackle Monte Clark, and all pro defensive back, Jimmy Johnson were drafted by the Forty Niners.
Back then, it would have been difficult to envision the concept of the Super Bowl, or the greatness ahead for these two players. My Dad would h Read on...
Well, the BnB room was definitely a good shout, as it certainly poured it down last night with strong winds. Checking out other walkers that turned up, all wet, with their tents being blown about, we felt quietly smug about our decision; and not too guilty as there was still one room left when we arrived (which we later overheard another couple took over camping too!) There was a big group of hike Read on...
We have made it a habit to have breakfast at 7.30 and to get on the road by 8.00. Why 7.30? Because that is the time kitchens seem to open here. Fortunately for me, kitchens do not open earlier!!
The day proved to be a heavy one with a lot of climbing. In total, we climbed almost 1.300 m. As I explained in previous notes, climbing generally requires more battery usage. Today that certainly was tr Read on...
Thursday - another one of those days which found me wondering how I managed to work and get ready to go on holiday. Over two years ago I would have found myself sitting at work with my mind divided between work and thinking what had I got to do to get away for my holiday . Life had changed . A blood test result sought out . A mixed message from the receptionist . What was wrong with saying one res Read on...
Around 7.30am as I pulled back the curtains the sight of Portsmouth Harbour & Docks appeared. Cruise ships, Container ships, naval ships, sailing yachts we are definitely surrounded by sea vessels of every size and description, we even saw the huge aircraft carrier The Prince of Wales.
The coach took us on a drive up to Portadown Hill, the summit of a long chalk ridge where we could view the whol Read on...
