The waterfalls were named after the Duke of Montmorency in his honor by Samuel de Champlain in 1613. The falls is a natural formation where the Montmorency River cascades over the rock face to join the St. Lawrence River downstream. An interesting fact about this waterfall is that it is higher than Niagara Falls. Sam is a great story teller as we passed the remnants of the military trenches set u Read on...
Apparently noone uses the full name of a town around here. So instead of saying Rushmore to Murchison to Shepparton, its Rushy to Murchy to Shepp. There was no real hurry today as we were only planning on about 55kms. Having said that Felice said up for a Sunday drive and meet us at Murchy for a coffee at about 10am. We bid farewell to Rushy with a slight detour to see a block of land Jeffs brot Read on...
We crossed the border from Austria into Liechtenstein around 7pm and were into Vaduz soon after. We stopped long enough to take some snaps of the castle on the hill above the main street, then drove up a hill just out of town for the night, where we got a really good view of the town below, before free camping for an early night. Next day was a special day for us as we celebrated having been on t Read on...

The West Highland Way is a trail from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. There are loads of suggested itineraries online and its pretty easy to get caught up in what some perceive to be the proper way to walk it, but we decided to begin partway through, spend two nights in one place when possible, and take day hikes to get off the beaten path. The train from G Read on...
We were up and on our way soon after 6am. Once we got out of the town, we drove sooo many miles without seeing a single place to stop for coffee. Finally, we spotted the Silver Lake Mercantile. The place was so and the owners were quite friendly. The lady had a lot of unusual decorations outside, reminding of my wife. We grabbed our coffees and continued down the numerous small roads that would ev Read on...
A large number of Persian Jews who came to Jerusalem at the end of the 19th century arrived in vain, and the lowliness of their situation led to an attempt to expel them from the country. Our Icelandair flight arrived at Keflavik (pronounced Keplavik) at 6:20 a.m. All flights from North America appear to arrive in this time slot and the airport ramp is densely packed with more arrivals than there are gates. The work continues to get things on Tsamaya. We had been noticing that the water pump was not working correctly as it seemed to be leaking air so the pump would turn on even when we werent turning on the water. The water pump is in a very awkward location to get to easily so even though Bob could do it, we are getting smarter in our old age and picking and choosing the jobs that we farm out to ot Read on...
Feeling refreshed from our rest day, we were up early and rejoined the trail, via part of the ‘viaduct walk, ready for the 20km ahead of us. The trail, naturally it seems, starts by climbing upand up and up. I thought wed done the steep hills but this mornings walk was definitely a couple hours more of uphill (thankfully it was then all Downhill). Reaching the Nine Standards (9 old random pilla Read on...
