Friday we all drove to Raleigh and stayed in a hotel so that we could catch an early flight. Tom drove Claire as he needed that car since his car had issues. He then had to drive home.
We took an early morning shuttle to the airport for our long flight to Hawaii. (1 hour to Atlanta and 9 hours to Honolulu). We had changed 6 time zones and almost 60 degrees in temperature when we arrived. We got our car and headed out into TRAFFIC. It looked like rush hour at 3pm, give us Charlotte or Raleigh any day. We made it to our hotel, but had to figure out how to manipulate all the streets. Oh, in our free hotel room, we had a $45 valet parking fee (our only choice) and a $29 resort. Oh well.
Once we got out of our winter clothes and into shorts, we headed to start our adventures. Guess what, there is even more traffic. Our first stop was Nuuana Pali Lookout. It had beautiful views of the bays and the mountains; it looked like Hawaii. There were also chickens everywhere. Next, we traveled to Iolani Palace and convinced the
guard to give us 10 minutes to take pictures instead of closing early . It was built in 1882 by a Hawaiian King. We then headed back to the hotel in the traffic. When we got back, we were starving and dead tired and wanted to find linner (early dinner – midnight at home). Everything was packed and we still had to wait 45 minutes. Dinner was good and we headed to back to crash.
