Ill make this the final blog for this trip. Tomorrow will be another at sea day, and we will be packing. We arrive in to Sydney on Thursday morning and will catch the trains home. Seeing that we had nowhere to go today, nowhere to be, we decided to order breakfast from room service, which could have been delightful. It turned out that toast for one person was one slice of toast. Luckily I also had 6 pieces of melon! Tom had a slice of toast as well, and cereal - with no spoon!! Oh well, back to the cafe for the next two days. We went to the theatre for the first lecture of the day - the author talking about the legal shows this time, evoking lots of reminiscing of favourite old shows. Tom was staying on for the next lecture, while I was planning to duck off to see Ricardo to have my phone fixed, again. As I was leaving the theatre I partially heard the Captains daily report, informing us that we have a number of active COVID cases on board who have been isolated, and they would like us to wear masks in the public areas, so I ducked up to our room and grabbed a couple of face masks for Tom and I and then returned to the theatre for the second lecture, and to give Tom his mask. Im glad I did - the second lecture was the naturalist guy giving another of his informative lectures sprinkled with humour. I hadnt thought Id find the night sky interesting, but parts of his talk were really interesting. Apparently TRex dinosaurs used to have feathers! He also showed us photos taken by the Hubble telescope, and new photos of the same subjects taken by the new James Webb telescope showing so much more detail and way beyond the other one. Lunch was much the same as the other days, our routine (although Tom says hes looking forward to returning home to our usual food). Our regular afternoon rest saw us watching An Affair to Remember - good old Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, made the year after we were born! the dining room in a baggy white polo shirt with baggy trousers and sneakers? When you consider how smartly the staff are dressed, its just disrespectful to dishonour them this way. And dinner was delightful! Creamy salmon with caviar for me, smoked tomato soup for Tom, followed by lobster tails for me, and beef Wellington for Tom. He then chose baked Alaska for dessert while I had Creme brle. We scurried out as soon as we finished eating, because Will Martin was doing tonight‘s show - and its just as well, the theatre was at maximum capacity. This guy is so entertaining. So, I think thats all of the best bits of our trip. Oh yes, we were stopped on the street in Auckland yesterday by a lady who used to live in Chatswood - she asked if we were on the ship, where we were from and where we were going. She has two sons - a 20 year old and an oopsy 9 month old. She was returning to work today and yesterday was the little one‘s first day in child care so I think she was nervous.
