Weve been pretty well occupied throughout July and August since our June trip to France. The garden has been looking absolutely splendid, helped by a lot of glorious weather and no battering of heavy wind and rain. The almost drought conditions of August have left it a bit dry in places but we have had no hosepipe ban and in fact have had some rain where lots of England has not. Gentle soft rain, the sort the flowers love.
Weve survived the British Heatwave which was supposedly going to kill tens of thousands as weve survived the Covid pandemic (so far at least and not surprising as we have both managed (touching wood) not to catch it 😊).
Ive made lots of glass and sold lots of glass but not really as much as normal even for these quiet summer months as the press terrifies us all by issuing dire warnings every day that we are all going to die from lack of food, light, heat and goodness knows we might even get the Monkey Pox. Still hanging in there on
We have been away for a little break in the motorhome with Smart Car towed behind on the We went to my daughters birthday party in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire so stayed the night on a nearby campsite and then the next day headed further on to Penbrokeshire, Wales near Tenby. Had a super 3 night stay and loved Tenby. Ive never been before though I didnt realise that until we got there so had a lovely day snapping the picturesque seaside town and harbour. And another day visiting the coast on either side.
Only two mishaps so far. 500 yards up the road Bob realized he had left without his wallet (containing essential driving licence) so rather than going a tricky way round the block via the country lanes to retrieve it he walked home and back, looking quite puffed when he reappeared.
M25, M2. Weather fine and though that is threatened to change shortly. Worst problem is trying to stop for lunch at the services as we have to park in among the HGVs and take care to get a slot which is drive through. With the Smart Car on the reversing is possible, just about, but not easy. Round the Lorry park twice but we did then manage to find a spot.
And so to our campsite where we stayed on first night of the June trip as well. A CL called Norlands at Staple which is only a 15 minute drive down to Dover for the ferry in the morning.
It was fortunate that when I went across to the loo a little while ago I came back via the back of the Smart Car rather than the front of the motorhome the way I went. Was rather surprised to see the brake lights were on.oops.. and sure enough Smart Car battery is now flat.
to do with the brake connection on the Aframe which if the car shifts an inch after we stop it puts the brake
As the indicators and other lights on the Smart Car all work from the motorhome system when we are towing it we can leave it as it is for the moment but Bob will obviously need to get the battery charged up as soon as we arrive at the next campsite, in France. He does have a battery charger but not easy to set up in the pitch black of now.
We will of course, in future, always walk round the back of the Smart Car when we leave it on the Aframe just in case it does it again !! Naughty car ! Bob says it is doing what it is supposed to do, it is just we forgot it can be a tease sometimes 😊
