This morning I got dressed and headed across the street to a bakery. The Red Ganache. They had just taken fresh croissants and cranberry orange muffins out of the oven. The smell simply filled the air. I enjoyed talking with the owner and staff. Of course I bought the croissants, muffins, plus chocolate eclairs, and a couple pastries for us to try. We divided everything by 4 and each had a taste of everything I brought home. It was great with morning coffee!!
It was raining, but we took a chance and drive down by the falls. We found a parking place, but it was a long walk to the falls, plus it was $30 and we werent going to be there that long!! So we just drive by and took pictures, hoping the weather would be better later in the day.
Terry had contacted a former classmate and friend who lived in Rochester and arranged to meet her. Unfortunately the meeting place was the Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. This meant we had to cross the border. It was Monday morningLabor Daymany people were checking out of hotels and heading home..it was crowded. I did NOT have
We met Gina and her husband and had lunch at the casino. It was delicious. We had the chance to sit, talk, and reminisce for some time before we parted ways. It was a great visit!
Going back to the Canadian Falls was much easier this time! We went back to our Airbnb for a few minutes, hoping the rain would stop so we could walk around but the weather didnt cooperate. Instead we went to a movie about the history of Niagara Falls. Now Ive seen this movie a couple times, but Karen, Ed, and Terry had never visited here before and I was sure theyd enjoy it.
The movie used to be in a museum near the Skylon Tower but had been moved to a knew location which had just opened a few days before, so there were only 6 of us there to watch the movie. We struck up a conversation with the two young ladies after the movie and quickly learned they were from the UK. They were so interested that I had just been there and we talked for sometime sharing stories of places we loved in
and around London. Thats one thing I love about travelingall the people we meet, probably for once in our lives!!
It was still raining, sometimes pretty hard, so we went back to our Airbnb and planned our dinner. There was a Papa Johns right across the street so we did an online order and pick up. We ordered the new Papa Bowls to try. They were really good but large enough for two people to share, so we had plenty of leftovers!
Finally the rain subsided to a drizzle and we felt like we could walk. Many places were closed since it was so late, but we were able to buy souvenirs and just look around. On our way back to our house the nightly fireworks started. We stopped in the street and watched.
Once we returned to our house, It was time to pack up and prepare to move on. We were headed to Letchworth State Park, considered the Grand Canyon of the East. Having never been there, we were all looking forward to the trip!
