Another bright day in Kendal and a short ride to Weatherspoons for breakfast. Not sure if it was a good idea as we were the first in at 8am but ther had already run out of bread and had only one portion of on Mr Martin get it together. A stop at Wheelbase in Staveley was followed by a brew at the cafe nearby before taking the cycleway alongside the A591 road into Windermere. The most amazing road was the next one to Black Moss which winds its way up the hill with several gates and has grass in the centre. A fast descent to the ferry to be carried across Coniston Lake ready to tackle the climbs through Cunsey Wood and on up to Grizedale for lunch. We lost two riders here since the cafe entrance is not well signposted but we met later in Hawkshead. The road down the east side of Lake Coniston was very bumpy and potholed and there is me thinking that Lancashire roads were the only bad ones. stop was had at Greenodd for ice cream and I actually had one for the
first time in one and a half years since they had a vegan option. Not that I am a vegan monster but because it had no milk in it and the lactose. The Bridleway around the Leven estuary was entered by lifting the bikes onto a rough old track by the river and then weaving a way over the footbridge and along the river to Bigland. Here we sped along to Cark. Well some of us. I got into a road train with John, Andrew and Ruth and made quick time towards the sea whilst the others trailed behind at a more leisurely and sensible pace. that ther were too many hills, which were unnecessary and I had to conced that it was all unnecessary and we could all stay at home. A pleasant ride along the promenade was arranged to finish the day, before parking our bikes at Somerset House and imbibing several beers out in the sun. The evening meal was taken by most of us at the local AHKI Indian Restaurant which I can thoroughly An end to a great day in perfect weather.
