I forgot to mention yesterday that I did not see a to Saskatchewan sign on the highway. The sign at the Alberta visitor centre was underwhelming but to be fair I was no longer on Highway 1, the Trans Canada Highway that runs coast to coast. The rolls in the landscape got a little bigger once I entered Alberta. Im basically camped in the valley of the last couple road pics. The river is shallow now but its obviously a large flood plain right beside the campground. Its been quite dry here lately so there is a fire ban. Two nights is a row with no campfire! Im not coping well. There are large irrigation ditches I passed over and lots of field sprinklers running too. It looks like a corn producing area and I also passed a McCain plant nearby so I assume its sweet corn getting watered in the fields. Its a nice campground here in Lethbridge. The main area is a bit industrial with a perfectly laid out grid but Im in what is called the rustic area which appears to be cut into a wooded area beside the flood plain. The sites are large with lots of trees and well spaced apart on rolling terrain. Sitting in my chair I cant even see another camper. I arrived about two oclock so I took in some sun and relaxed. Tomorrow is my shorted drive of the whole trip at about four hours so there is no rush to get going early in the morning but some days I just dont seem to be able to sleep very late. I used to be able to stay in bed till noon falling in and out of consciousness but the last few years I just cant do it anymore. Maybe its age but more likely its the fact I get up very early for work some months. Whatever the reason today was one of those days and I woke up about five and never got back to sleep. Ill blame it on the fact I couldnt have a fire last night.
