This morning we bid goodbye to Roxanne before she went to work and did our final birding at Spanish Lagoon. Some cactus flowers remain, but we saw only one humming bird – fleetingly and at a distance. And there were NO burrowing owls out to greet us. Did they have a late night out hunting or what.
That was most disappointing, but we did see that the yellow Orioles have finished their hanging nest. Cant see how a bird can fit in there to keep eggs warm – wish we could stay for that!
We drove past Mangel Halto to say goodbye. It was slightly rougher than yesterday, judging by the line of foam going over the reef.
But we were driving home and saw a flycatcher just enjoying catching bugs in a small pond. Great aerial display but no photo of that, just him sitting resting in the tree. And then, low and behold, a Yellow Billed Cuckoo flew in!! Not a new lifer for us, but very exciting.
be so lucky? We dont get in to Cleveland until virtually midnight. Tomorrow will be a challenge with Bible Study Fellowship at 9:15, haircuts, bell choir and choir. We might need lots of coffee all day! But at least we are not working stiffs anymore. Many a time we returned from flights back from England on a Sunday and went to work the next day. Not anymore!
