Sunday: After getting settled here in Georgia the afternoon was an adventure time out to Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simons Island. Unfortunately I had a technology issue and took 0 pictures. The fort was established by the British in 1736 to protect from the Spanish in Florida. There was a cool going on and the weather was sunny and 75*. Gorgeous day on the island near the water and soaking up the history. Nice walks around Brunswick and a little exploring around town after work. Visited lovers oak which was here in Brunswick in 1776. Many trees have Spanish Moss which gives it a cool look. Mostly Im just amazed at how there is just water everywhere. Random rivers, estuaries, marsh etc. The whole area is just sectioned off by random bodies of water and bridges. Sometimes it looks like something is close but not so much with how the roads and bridges go. Ive also had some delicious fresh seafood- especially shrimp. yum! Tried fried green tomatoes for the first time as well as hush puppies. Still need to find some grits that arent made with milk island- one of Georgias sea islands that can be access via bridge. This was the first time Copper ever truly saw the wide ocean from the beach. I like to think he was amazed and starring at it, but really there was another dog walking up the path he wanted to meet. Jekyll island has some gorgeous beaches, lots of wildlife and many walking trails. I would say hiking trails but its so incredibly flat I just cant. Its still a gorgeous island with lots of foliage Saturday evening I drove down to Jacksonville and saw my sister and her wife for dinner and visiting. They made a delicious slow country boil with sausage, shrimp, crab, potatoes and corn on the cob! Great visit!
