So decided not to get up early as if honest already been to the Acropolis but not inside the Temple of Zeus so going there instead. We have checked in for our flights as we now have a stop over in Frankfurt as our original flight has been cancelled. The hotel has kindly let us stay in our room until 3pm when the taxi picks us up which is great news. I can now have a shower before we start our travels as our flight is 18.30 and we do not get into Manchester until 22.55 with a 2 hour stopover in Frankfurt.
I thought I would put a photo of the party for the German dignitaries yesterday - I wonder what will happen today!
So we get to the Temple of Zeus and the columns that are still standing are amazing. There used to be 104 columns and 16 survived until 1986 where one fell down in a terrible storm - it must have been a blinder of a storm to topple one of these columns.
Anyway after walking around I decide that no blog would be any good without a photo of the Acropolis so here you go, here is a photo of the Acropolis.
We have a spot of lunch on the way back to the hotel as we have a long journey home. The taxi picks us up early and we have a leisurely drive to the airport, at least this taxi driver did not take our lives in his hands as he drove quite steadily which was a relief.
We have checked in and now been informed that our flight is going to be 35 mins late into Frankfurt so longer in the lounge than expected but have free Mind you I nearly left my iPad with security as the bloke in front of me was faffing about and would not move so I thought I had everything until I looked in my bag and noticed the iPad was missing - thank god I looked in my bag.
Just to let you know Athens airport is really big with lots of shops and very clean. You do have to wear
your mask all the time though which is a pain in the backside - but you have to do what the locals ask you. The lounge though is the worst I have ever been in to be honest. It had nothing apart from nice to being in the main airport - but what the heck we had chair.
So arrive at Frankfurt airport and what do you have to do when you go to Frankfurt, you have a frankfurter! Oh I know frankfurters do not originate from Frankfurt but what the heck. We then get the plane to Manchester and a great service from Clayton Hotel as the gentleman who picked us up collected our keys for us and even drove us to our car.
So home now and now trying to sort out my car which has been in the garage for 5 weeks now and they still cannot sort it.
