Well it is a lovely day out there today and we have decided to go to Bamburgh first in the Motorhome. Mike drove and we had a stroll along the beach and had as everyone does a nice cup of tea or coffee if you are Mike. We found that you could stay with a Motorhome or Campervan in the car park overnight for £12 overlooking the magnificent castle. This is not bad if you can get in at the Lobster Pot for an evening meal - so I have noted this down in my book as this could be a little gem overlooking the castle and seeing the sun rise or sun set, not sure which one would look best!
Off we then pop to Alnwick and I decide in my wisdom not to park immediately in the castle and gardens car park but to try and find one cheaper in the town centre. Well this was a mistake as we could not find anything and then there was an arch to leave the town at one point that we couldnt get through without taking the roof off! After much shouting and screaming at each other as I thought
Mike was going to back into a car - which he says he was miles off - well from my angle and as I was inches away, he was near - honest!!!
So we go back to the castle and gardens car park and guess what its £3 for the day - so humble pie was eaten by myself. Although we have been to the gardens before seeing the waterfall and the gardens does still take your breath away - okay the waterfall is not like the Bellagio in Las Vegas but hey ho we are British and sometimes have a sense of decorum - ie Downton Abbey springs to mind.
After another brew and a bite to eat we decide to go back to the campsite as tonight it is fish and chips night. On Mondays they have a fish and chip van so you can guess what we are having for tea tonight - could it be fish and chips or something of this ilk?
I drove us back and even managed once again to get us on the levelers without driving over the top of them. Can you imagine the words that out of Mikes mouth if I did that!
We are off tomorrow bright and early to Haltwistle which is still in Northumberland but further down for a couple of nights. This site is a Camping and Caravan site which are also good sites.
Today we are off and I am driving so lets see if Mike has gone any greyer of has lost anymore hair - I am sure there will be some language as even in the instructions to get to the site it says do NOT follow the sat nav! so wait for the next instalment - if I am still alive, ha ha
