Departed Ottawa. The airport check in process was easy. I always have to wait a little bit to actually see a person when checking my bag because they have to verify my Veteran status to receive the free bag check in.
Once that was done, it was off to the dreaded security check in. The line was long, but it moved along quite well. Theyve made some improvements since Ive last travelled. For example, the person at the start of the cue for security only verifies that you have a boarding pass now instead of scanning it or checking your identification. Then, you get in the line with others. Once you get to the ‘head of the line, another security screening agent will indicate which line of machine youll head to. Once there, you scan your own boarding pass.
You now find yourself where you have to dump everything into the ‘bins. Theyre automatically fed to you one at a time under the table in front of you. Your section of doing all this is protected from the person beside you with a hard plastic glass looking barrier for distancing. Same scan through the machine and ‘wanding if required.
My friend Jim bought me this bottle last October and I keep in in Vancouver at my sisters place to enjoy when Im in Vancouver.
Grab your stuff, collect it and turn 180 degrees to your rear, where the table is set up for you to then put your stuff away and on whatever the case may be. Very efficient.
Then, it was off to the gate for two hours plus of waiting to board. There was ONE Tim Hortons outlet open with ONE person working behind the cash. Poor girl. The line up there was longer than the security line up. Not happening, I said to myself.
I walked further down the airport to another ‘no name coffee place and bought a ‘croissanwich‘ (egg, cheese, thin slice of ham warmed up in a croissant), a raspberry muffin and the coffee. I then sat down in the cafe and enjoyed my breakfass in peace ‘n quiet.
The flight was good. I had an empty middle seat and one other young lady in the window seat beside me. I watched a Disney + movie on my iPad that I had downloaded at home; Ford vs. Ferrari. It was a good film - that ate up hrs of the flight time. The rest was dozing and listening to some tunes.
Just had to snap this picture of Simons in Vancouver for Shelley. Kristine and I walked past it on our way to White Spot.
and my sister met me at the airport. We headed downtown to her apartment to drop stuff off before leaving for a nice lunch at White Spot at Park Royal in West Vancouver. Delicious. Glad they dont have one in Ottawa - Id be two hundred fifty pounds (kidding, it actually makes me sad).
We then did a little shopping and headed back to her place. From there, I walked up Robson Street to Granville where there is an Old Navy store. Shelley had purchased some pants online and we had them ready for pick up there, since they were out of her colour anywhere in Ottawa! Handy with me being in Vancouver to get them!
Came back to my sisters place and we just hung out and spent some time together. Called our and checked in with our in Sechelt. Called Dad and wished him a happy Fathers Day and was able to say, ‘see you tomorrow!
