I was reading a book, and came across this rather colorful description of a stinky situation. I am sure each of us has a story that may top this one. But here you go: This is from Tim Moore in his book, The Cyclist Who Went Out in the Cold as he cycled along the old Iron Curtain, in a Russian shopping bicycle with only two speeds. After 1700 km of odorless, aseptic Finland, my nostrils were befoul Read on...

Left the camper in Mt Isa and travelled the Overlanders Way on the Barkly Highway on an excellent sealed, double lane road. The scenery was the best we had travelled through. Undulating, very rugged, highly vegetated hill country. Cloncurry advertises itself as, The Friendly Heart of Outback Queensland. It proved to be so as all who we met were indeed friendly. From our readings we learned that in Read on...
Though I rarely feel when I travel, I am certain some people do. I figure it is fairly obvious what I am to natives, so I dont really worry about it. But people do seem to ask about my ethnic heritage, when they see me, and hear perfect English. The question What are you? When I say I am an American, they ask further, No, what are you, really? Invariably, I have to ask them what an American looks Read on...
I had three English teachers during my seven years at Stoneham Grammar School, Reading, between 1963 and 1970. In my first year I was taught by Mr ‘Bongo Stacey, primarily a French teacher, who slippered me in my second ever English lesson for forgetting to bring ‘Treasure Island. Thereafter, I had either Mr ‘Min Morey or Mr ‘Sooty Coleman.
Mr Coleman was the Head of English and a graduat Read on...

Traveling to Papua and New Guinea in 1964 was an adventure! I knew something about it from stories I heard or read about World War II battles there. This was only 19 years after the end of the war and memories of it loomed large in the region. Each of the aircraft we flew Read on...

Before I get into the minute details, I have to finish up with our eating extravaganza we were enjoying prior to his surgery. Beca Read on...
Well those high winds the Captain mentioned yesterday didnt disturb us during the night and this morning we saw the sun rise as we docked in Kirkwall, Orkney.
An initial technical hitch which prevented the gangway from being lowered was a bit worrying but we need not to worry for long as it was soon sorted and we could then set off on another panoramic tour.
We travelled inland to the spiritual Read on...
