Ajaccio is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte and you are constantly reminded of this with the numerous statues not to mention bars and restaurants which are so named. It is a pleasant place to walk around despite a down turn in the weather. At least it only showered a short while we were on the coast. The main product of Corsica is coral but we didnt buy any as it seems unenvironmental to do so Read on...
Kyra was a kindergarten teacher in Australia and her friends were happy to help buy not only food, but also school supplies for the children of Chahuay. Henry did all the work of shopping and bargaining for what we bought for the 75 children of Chahuay. The total for all of the school supplies came to only $85 USD.
Today I was woken up by the sound of construction out my window. The past few week Read on...
Quite sad to leave our lovely site at Limeuil as we have really enjoyed our stay there. Found out later than the 2022 ACSI inspection has awarded them the best located site again and that is no surprise is it really is in a wonderful spot. Across the bridge from a beautiful village, access to two mighty rivers, the Vezere and the Dordogne and close to so many of the gorgeous villages of the Perigo Read on...
In the morning we were picked up by our new driver and agency. We had a long drive ahead of us as we drove out to Sayram Lake. Covid tests and police checks continued to be a dampener on the enjoyment. We travelled a road that used to be closed in the depths of winter due to snow drifts and storms. It now has a new elevated bridge that to my eyes was more exposed to the weather but we were told ke Read on...
Sunday was a sun day. What a fantastic day to start our ride in Anacortes Washington to Marblemount Washington. The weather was a little cool this morning as we dipped our rear wheels into the Pacific Ocean at 8 am. We had clear beautiful skies all day long with minimal wind. This is what we call perfect biking weather... God is good! We weaved in and out of roads within Anacortes and The bike ro Read on...
Having survived on fear and adrenaline for the first three days of the ride, this morning provided relief -- breakfast at the local coffee shop. It was the place favored by the locals -- men my age gathered around a big table in no hurry to finish. Lady my age doing everything efficiency and kind concern for her customers. I was sure I would earn it - so I ate well and had a wonderful long talk wi Read on...
Hier petite soire tranquille, cet htel perdu dans la campagne, vraiment trs bien. Le resto du soir choix, ptes ou pizzas. The Great British rail sale and I booked train tickets from Hayes and Harlington to and return to London Paddington for 23 GBP on a Tuesday, market day.
I was on time, at the train station but my connecting train got cancelled. The brand new Elizabethan line had opened and the trains were experiencing several delays. Without wasting a minute, I enquired if there was a cycle space on 11.04 am tra Read on...
Departed Ottawa. The airport check in process was easy. I always have to wait a little bit to actually see a person when checking my bag because they have to verify my Veteran status to receive the free bag check in.
Once that was done, it was off to the dreaded security check in. The line was long, but it moved along quite well. Theyve made some improvements since Ive last travelled. For example Read on...
Today we were meant to have two swims, one at Manning Gorge and the other at Galvin Gorge. About 20 minutes from Manning we heard a couple of thuds from the back end of our bus. Our driver and guide, Calum stopped the vehicle and checked; we had a flat tyre. Luckily, we were just a few kilometres from the Mt Barnet Roadhouse.
What should have been a one hour delay at the roadhouse turned into two Read on...
