After our first night aboard ship we woke well rested and eager for the day ahead. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with a view of the water as the ship moved swiftly toward our first destination. By 10:00 am the ship had docked at Pier Alfonso XII Cruise Terminal in the natural harbor of Cartagena. This important harbor was established as a major naval center by the Carthaginians in 227 BC. When our daughter selected Ohio University for her graduate studies, I discovered that the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway was located near Athens. Its a preserved tourist railway line between Nelsonville and Logan offering frequent excursions with vintage equipment. We had to return to Saudi Arabia for additional work. However, at this time, people were barred from flying directly from UAE to Saudi, so we had to do a 14 day quarantine. Most people were going to Bahrain as it was a shorter route. However, we decided to try somewhere a little different - if we are going to be stuck in a hotel for 14 days, why not try to make the most of it?? Maldives was on the Read on...
After finishing the Milford Track, I overnighted at Te Anau, before been picked up by the Ultimate Hikes coach to take us to the start of the Routeburn Track. The Routeburn Track is only a 3 day and 2 night trek, covering just over 32 kms. The start of the walk was up hill and after about an hour we came to Key Summit. This gave you some great views over the lake and towards the mountains. The tr Read on...
We had planned to go to Paris by train but then decided on Ryan Air. Ive flown on it before and know that it is like a cattle car, that and flying in and out of inconvenient airports, but that was what we decided to do. It actually cost about the same as a train ticket and after calculating the time involved from start to finish, the time was about the same. But then on the plus side we went to Ve Read on...
April, 2019 -- In retrospect, it was a mistake not to devote an extra day to see Waco on this Texas trip. The day we spent exploring the ‘new face of Waco was pretty much a whirlwind tour – plenty to see and do to fill up a day, but one day is not enough time to get a real feel for this city. In fact, in hindsight, a lot more time was needed to see and get a feel for Texas as a whole. I would Read on...

Today , after breakfast, we left our favorite home away from home, The Balmoral House Hotel. We love the people there. They treat us like we are family. We met a young man, Flavio, when we were there in 2019. We were so hoping that he would still be there.he was. He remembered us when we checked in and we hated to say goodbye when we left today. We got to know another lady who works there that is Read on...
Our next stop was Naxos. We wanted to spend a week in one destination and we didnt know if we should spend it in Naxos or Paros. After reading a lot of blogs and guides, I decided that Naxos was the right choice for us. And it was! We left Santorini in the rain. Sailing past Ios, we could hardly see it. Actually, it was sort of like the last time we were there. You could say we spent our honeymoo Read on...
Well Im terribly sorry to say that I have not been in a blogging mood for the last 2 weeks. We have been cursed with lots of rain and if its not raining it is cloudy, windy or cold and usually of all three. I can count on one hand the number of decent days weve had since being in the motorhome these last 3 weeks. We are getting super fat sitting around in the van waiting for the weather to improve Read on...
