We had made the long journey to Devon (with a stop half way) yesterday. Well I say Devon and we had touted our staycation this year being to Devon, but we had spent the night in Taunton, which we discovered was actually in Somerset. Not that it mattered.
I got up early, which is my usual routine for some sunrise photography, and I headed to Glastonbury, which is not too far from Taunton, especial Read on...
It has been a while since I updated my travel stories. This time, words do not flow easily into my head like they used to, and this probably one the effects of alienation syndrome.
The pandemic had taken a toll on many of us including a psychology student like myself. I experienced my sanity diminishing day by day as the whole shebang went on far longer than anticipated and I dont know how, but Read on...
There are a few tracks leading into the different camping areas here at Clem Walton and then there is another track taking us to the Dam wall. It was quite rough in places and definitely a case of tighten your bra straps and remove any dentures! Unfortunately, just as we neared the dam wall, the road was barricaded to both vehicles and pedestrians. However peering through the scrub we saw what loo Read on...
Day three started similar to all of the others, bright blue skies, brilliant sun and more birds chirping/singing than I have heard in a long time. Obviously they are in their happy place, as are we. We slept extremely well, with the windows open and the only thing we heard was the gurgling fountain in our courtyard. Breakfast started at 730a with the route rap at 830, and we along with our Ed and Read on...
Bob did suggest we could stay at the Merry campsite for another day but I was aware of the day of the week, Friday, and that the Mesnil campsite was likely to be busy at the weekend because it is by a lake so undoubtedly gets a lot of weekend visitors. Also no pool at the Merry site and Ive swum every day except first couple on the Somme before the weather warmed up and at Merry.

Berlin, the vibrant heart of Germany, is a city that defies easy categorization. It’s a place where remnants of a tumultuous past coexist harmoniously with cutting-edge architecture, street art, and a thriving cultural scene. During my visit, I immersed myself in the city’s unique blend of history, art, and pulsating energy.

The real history of the creek began just a few hundred years ago. Before the 1950s, the population of Dubai was around 50,000. But even then, it had a trading hub where merchants from different parts of the and stayed near the souk for a few weeks Read on...
We had a day of playing in Amsterdam, nothing too strenuous at the Botanical Gardens, now it was a day of museums. Well, really, it started out as only 1 museum.
I had wanted for us to go to the Hague as there was one museum that I wanted to go to, the Mauritshuis House. This is the museum where Vermeers Girl with The Pearl Earring is hanging as well as several Rembrandts, other Vermeers, Rubens Read on...
This morning was the earliest we had arisen for several days but we knew we had a good distance to cover to our next destination at Karamea.
With a full tank of petrol we headed along the fertile Takaka Valley to East Takaka which is sited at the foot of the hill road and then started the steady rise to the top of the hill and at 791 metres above sea level the road features in the website ‘Dang Read on...
