On Thurs, after our hammam adventure, we got picked up by Latifa, and then she and Rashid came back to our place for dinner. We were a bit challenged in terms of ingredient selection, but I think we managed pretty well. We had bought a camembert cheese in Marrekesh, so we had cheese, a fresh baguette and grapes to munch on first, then a vegetable soup that turned out really well, a mediocre pasta Read on...
Every morning the ships events coordinator Garry reminded us of the days program over the PA system. The printed program which is placed on our bed by the cabin staff, with our tour tickets to ensure everyone is ready for and that we are on time to catch the bus for the right tour. He also reminded us to bring our ‘silent box which we wear over our ear so the tour guides can talk about the local Read on...
We left the municipal albergue at about 6am, heading towards Ciruena or Cirinuela, depending on where you looked. After about 2 hours of walking, we arrived at Cirinuela, a rather large and largely unused golf course and apartment building group. It seemed like a ghost town, but we saw that at least some of the apartments were occupied. Right next to it is the town of Ciruena, a rather small town. Read on...
We continued to reach one of my highlight: Forillon National park. Its a peninsula at the end of the Gaspesian peninsula. A mix of ocean, forest, cold streams and beautiful landscapes. The most beautiful spot in the park is for me, the Cape. Its dramatic because of its topography and at the same time beautiful for its blue and green ocean waters. The park has a wide range of hiking trails rangin Read on...
There are two Ghost Towns located about 20 miles from Stanley. Bonanza City was the first gold mining town to raise up of the two in 1877 and by 1881 it had a population of 600. Fires in 1889 and 1897 gutted much of the town and most of them moved to Custer City which was only about 2 miles away. I was intrigued by Bonanza because my favorite TV show as a young girl was Bonanza. Now the ghost town Read on...

We did it folks. Unlike almost every other jurisdiction in the world that has been battered by a second wave of Melbourne has emerged victorious. No cases now for several weeks. An extraordinary effort by every single one of us here, and for some, involving much hardship. We feel rightly proud. Now its December. State borders are open again and we are all thinking of the Christmas period with fam Read on...
In our big (for 7 people) bus, we began our tour with a visit to a nearby fruit and vegetable market. Suppliers were still hauling in bananas, papayas, tomatoes, green peppers, pineapples and more. Bustling shoppers moved quickly through the crowded aisles, making their purchases with practiced efficiency. For a few items, short slowed the pace, especially for the vendor selling plastic shopping Read on...
