After setting up for a few nights in Antigua, my friend and I got ready for our big adventure: Hiking conical Volcn Acatenango and seeing the constantly erupting Volcn de Fuego. For Christmas Eve Eve! We used the Wicho and Charlies which was located near our airbnb and had good reviews. They also set you up in huts instead of tents. So we walked there for our meeting time of 8 am where we were giv Read on...
On our second day in London our main target was The British Museum. This fabled collection has long haunted my imagination. From my two visits to the Parthenon, I well understood that I could not really envision the reality of the original Parthenon without seeing the marbles that formed the friezes and under the gables and pediments of that ancient shrine. The collection in London also includes o Read on...
It was dear Shell Greyhound (aka Michelle Edwards) who put the idea into my head. She missed my travel blogs this year and suggested I blog about my time in isolation. Hardly riveting reading, I thought at first. But then I mulled over it and decided it would be a fun thing to do and, if nothing else, it would give me some amusement during ISO_2.0. So, here goes.

After witnessing the sun rise over Fowlers Bay we departed for Penong, a small town a little further east. On the outskirts of Penong is a growing collection of rescued and restored windmills. It is here that the worlds biggest windmill, a Comet, christened Bruce, stands. It had been used by the railways to pump water for the steam trains. We took the gravel firm and smooth mud track to Port Le Hu Read on...
The generator problems have not caused any other of our stops/itinerary to change at all. Ins & outs to all three stops since starting - Skjolden, Olden, Trondheim - were all to published times of in at 8am, out at 4pm. We pushed off on time on all 3 so Im guessing we had no holding up departure. And arrival, after yesterdays at sea day, into Honningsvg is happening on time at this moment.

A change of plan at dinner (yes, another one) had us heading for either Mulwala or Yarrawonga today. Either way it meant we hadd 100kms to travel so we needed to be up early and away before both the heat and wind got up.
We did pretty good getting on the road by about 7:10am. Rather than follow the main highway out of town we chose the scenic route around the river, only to notice after about a k Read on...

After a short, chilly set of stretches on our rooms balcony and the typical ham and bread breakfast, we drove to the other end of Bohinj Laketo walk back via the woodland and lakeside path. Equipped with hiking boots and poles to ensure our safety, our energetic friends blazed along, and we photographers strolled along, captured by the morning light reflecting the distant snowy mountains in the la Read on...
The original purpose of this blog was to record our adventures on our travels, as we set off for South Africa just over 15 years ago. It was daunting, even though we had already had the first mid life drop out some 3 years earlier and taken off for Australia and New Zealand. The focus of our trip was the Ashes tour of Australia, but it was motivated as a means to mark a landmark wedding anniversar Read on...
I am not going to try to describe Greek food to you in one email. Yes, Greek food might be some of the food you are familiar with back home. The lamb, stuffed grape leaves, eggplant, Greek EVOO, olives, and Barry the Vs favorite, Greek salad. But after just a few days here, Greek food has opened my eyes. First, they value and only eat FRESH food. Nothing is frozen, since most homes do not have fre Read on...
