My latest adventure with Trekkup was a whirlwind weekend tour of Uzbekistan: Silk and Spice weekend. I had been trying to do this popular trip for over a year now (thanks Covid and Saudi!). I was a little mentally exhausted due to my busy busy work schedule, but I needed to do this one. Initially we only had 5 or 6 people sign up in our group; at first, I was bummed because this is supposed to be Read on...
Another good day although the track was very rocky and rough. These conditions mean you have to be careful with every step as its so easy to roll an ankle. As such its surprising how much more effort goes into such a day. The distance and elevation with previous days but the extra degree of concentration means today was considerably more tiring than previous days.
The landscape is changing here, Read on...
So day two or is it, that is the question as I had a really bad nights sleep. The air conditioning was so loud and coupled with that Mike decided that tonight he was going to snore like an elephant - not that I have heard an elephant snore, ha ha but I am sure Mike could have given a herd of elephants a run for their money.
So up and a cup of tea (brewed by Mike as usual he told me to add haha) l Read on...
A blog entry with animals that actually or supposedly dont exist and with a tree that has existed like forever
In the time line of our vacation this blog entry has a bit of an anomaly. We have here collected photos from a few early days of the trip and the very last ones. We arranged things that way to help us make the blogs a bit more interesting and readable. At least that is what we aimed for. Read on...

Gill took us across the tidal causeway where just a couple of hours earlier the area would have covered by the sea and the island cut off.
On the walk across parts of the causeway had granite blocks deeply imbedded these were created to h Read on...
Our guide Craig lives in the idyllic village of Ballachulish and it was above the village that we started our walk today.
We came to the slate quarry - back In 1693 slate was first quarried in the Ballachulish Slate Quarries just a year after the Glencoe massacre that took place nearby. By the early 1700s this had developed into a major slate quarrying operation which continued for over more than Read on...
It has been a while since posting on this platform. This was always my basic keep friends informed channel. The special quality of this site in particular was that it always seemed to be active and accessible in China and worked relatively well.
My Sakya Resource Guide (SRG) website from the early 1990s is gone. The internet went out of business, or changed, and dumped all websites. I had somethi Read on...

This is a very short entry the day was spent driving to Denver, in not great weather. We woke up to about 3 to 4 inches of snow outside of our window. We ate breakfast in the hotel. They were so short staffed, they couldnt even clean the tables, just sat people in the bar. In reality, they could have cleaned the tables, just were organized enough to do so.
After breakfast loaded up the car and he Read on...
