On our full day in Johannesburg, we embarked in a tour mostly consistent of apartheid significant sights.
It was nice not to have one of those ultra early wake up calls, partly because we needed a little extra time to maneuver around our hotel rooms quirkiness. It was one of those hotels with the bathroom sink and glass shower in the bedroom. They did provide a partial curtain divider, but it was Read on...

I had a long day in Colorado and wanted to camp on the Colorado River in Utah. Westbound on Interstate Hwy 70, the first exit on the North Side of the highway in Utah is a very nice large viewing area. Cuz of the wildfires in California the haze over Utah (and Arizona) was thick and nice pics were hard by. I did not stop at the view area on this trip, but wish to show the pics from my 2017 visit. First off, yes, the dates on the title of this blog post are correct. We spent 4 wonderful days in Istanbul as a stop over on our way back to the US when leaving Tsamaya in the water in Fethiye, Turkey. Another lovely day, less cloudy perhaps than some others, and more windy. High 80s? But our car said 96. We did not try for an early morning turtle safari, and arrived at Arashi (the most northern beach) around 9:15. The current was strong so I didnt go out any further than the elkhorn corals. Now that the white buoy has been added, it helps us know which way to aim, at least.
Uh oh – theres a Read on...

We were up with the birds as usual and soon after breakfast were sitting outside in the back watching the birds eat their breakfasts too. It was very chilly but we also walked the perimeter.
We did see another javelina. Evidently the big male we saw yesterday has a bad back leg, which David noticed, so his name is Gimpy. And 2 more outside the property. And a handful of - they are large!
