We passed through Liettres, a small village claiming to be the birthplace of cricket. There is a document from 1478 that describes events around a match played here. We kwamen door Liettres, een klein dorp dat claimt de geboorteplaats te zijn van cricket. Er is een document van 1478 dat een wedstrijd beschrijft die gespeeld werd.
Een kortere dag vandaag. Weer door de glooiende velden, maar redelijk recht toe recht aan. Wel met een aantal interessante dingen onderweg, zie de fotos. Wat ik gisteren nog had willen vertellen is dat we regelmatig stukjes liepen op route van de 4e etappe van de Tour de France, die hier a.s. dinsdag langskomt (Duinkerken naar Calais). We waren blij dat we een paar dagen eerder waren vertrokken dan oorspronkelijk gepland. Als je de etappe bekijkt op televisie zul je veel zien van het landschap waar wij doorheen gelopen zijn.
A shorter day today. Again through the rolling hills, but a more direct route. There were a few interesting sites today, see the photos. What I had planned to mention yesterday is that we regularly walked on the route of the 4th stage of the Tour de France, which passes here on Tuesday (Dunkirk to Calais). We were happy that we started our walk a few days earlier than planned originally. If you are going to watch the stage on television, you will see a lot of the landscape that we walked through.
