So we landed in Heathrow about 20 minutes late, which wasnt bad since we left NYC about 50 minutes late. The flight was uneventful after our run to make the gate. The food was good....not delicious but good for plane food. Shealyn says she didnt sleep but II did for several hours. I watched one of my favorite movies...Life is Beautiful. Nanci Bowen, it made me think of you..............Buongiorno principessa!!!!
We disembark the plane and heard through customs which was incredibly easy. Off we went to the baggage claim. I have a Delta app on my phone that lets me know when my luggage is loaded, as well as other alerts pertinent to my flights. So I get a message that my luggage is being loaded on the carousel. Sure enough luggage around. We watch and we see several bags that looks like mine and Shealyns but they are not ours. We spy Marshas bag. She bought a new bag for this trip and it is very colorful....easy to identify. Shealyn asks me if its too soon to get worried. I tell her no because the app told me my bag was being loaded. So we watch and
wait. The carousel stops. No more luggage. We go to the lost luggage office and learn that our bags are still in New York. With all the changing and running for the plane, our luggage didnt make it! As I turn in our baggage receipts I learn why I thought my luggage was on the plane......Marshas luggage had my Delta tag so it also made it look like my bag was on the plane! I really didnt concern myself so much until later in the evening when I realized my blood pressure medicine was in NYC and I was in London! Fortunately I had enough pills to last me for 4 days. matters further we were taking the Eurostar to Paris the next day, Making it more difficult to find me.
Once we filled out the proper paperwork we headed in to London. We were staying at a hotel close to the Eurostar station so we wouldnt have far to go on Tuesday to get on the train. It was about a 50 minute train ride to the nearest train station to the hotel. On our walk from the station to the hotel, Shealyn lost her Apple
Watch....it fell right off her arm. She didnt notice until we had checked in and we went right out and searched to no avail....the watch was nowhere to be found. She followed the process to shut it down so her private info couldnt We decided we couldnt do anything more so we went out shopping at TK Maxx.
Now anyone who knows Shealyn, knows shes a shopper...especially TJ Maxx. This time she was of Delta. They advised her not to go crazy but she could buy whatever was necessary in order to survive without luggage. I had that same opportunity. Our watch word phrase of this trip is....I have that, its in my luggage! We had many laughs over that!!
Shealyn cute things at TK Maxx but only spent $66.00. I spent about $50 for what I got. Poor Marsha has to be satisfied with what she brought!
We rode that bus to the nearest TK Maxx and found us to be in an interesting section of London....the West End! This included areas of SoHo, Chinatown, the Theater district, Covent Gardens and Tottenham Court Road (from My Fair Lady). We even
learned that My Fair Lady is being revived in London through August. It didnt take me long to snag 3 tickets for that show! Cant wait!
We shopped, ate fish and chips at Poppys (a longtime fish and chips place), and had fish shaped waffle cone ice cream in Chinatown. We shopped some more, took pictures, and finally wore out and headed back to our hotel. We bought toiletries and other necessary items that was in our luggage in NYC. We went to bed early because we had to be at the Eurostar before 5 am as we had to go through security and passport before boarding the Eurostar. So far weve had a great time with a few hiccups!
