So this trip is winding down. We left on the evening of July 2, flew out of PIT to JFK on July 3, arrived in London on July 4. Now we are back in JFK awaiting our flight to PIT!! We are ready! London Heathrow airport is a nightmare. Its very disorganized and they are way understaffed. We started there at 6:45 for an 11:30 flight. We had about 30 minutes before we boardedlines were that long. I really think their ticketing lines were worse than security. Marsha, Shealyn, and I always talk about our tripwhat we liked, what we didnt like, funny moments, favorite moments, catch phrases, etc. so this will be a summary. We all agreed our favorite part of the trip was the nighttime limo tour of Paris. It wasnt just the car but the guide was outstanding too Next we loved all the shows we attended in Londons West End. We particularly loved Beauty and the Beast. I think meeting Dottie Rees ( our little friend who has the brain tumor) really was the highlight of that evening. It was a chance meeting with her family that turned into one of our favorite things. For sure we will keep in touch We got tired of the full English breakfast that we had for about 22 days. I like bacon and eggs but not every day. We got tired of fish and chips BUT we had some really outstanding fish and chips. We hate the heatwave that followed us, especially with no air conditioning!! We loved that we had a fan almost everywhere we stayed though!! We really hated the double decker buses in London during the heatwave. Some of our favorite words or phrases. Having crack means having fun wee (in Scotland) meaning small or a littlehairy coo (Scottish highland cow).Marsha mispronouncing Merci beaucoup as Mercy mind the gap a million times on the tube or trainplus see it, say it, sort it on the train or tubecheers or cheerio! and Ireland. We particularly loved our Outlander Tour and Beatrix Potter Tour. We loved all the castles we saw. It was a great trip and I think planning the Lake District last was a good move. It was very relaxing. The last thing was all the beautiful flowers. Ive never seen so many beautiful flowers.everywhere.except St.Andrews!! Ive never seen the vibrant colors of hydrangeas like we saw here. AND tuberous begonias growing everywherewe have a hard time keeping them alive. Finally these countries value age. They keep the old buildings and continue to use them. It was awesome!!
