Reminded me so much of our trip to Europe with my parents when we were kids and my parents bought a water jug in a shop like this!
Up and on the road once again, this time to the beaches to the south in Carvoeiro. I think everyone is looking forward to relaxing a bit more.
Before we leave town, Anne wants to stop and check out a local pottery shop on the corner. The lady has a bunch of hand made pottery that is decorated in a bunch of different styles. Anne wanted to buy all kinds of stuff but we are limited in luggage space. She picked up a few smaller items, well have to figure it out later. (Can you tell who writes the blogs and who edits the pictures?!)
On the road, going through similar small country roads, we stopped at a small town called Beja to get some food. We sat down inside the old castle to eat. No big deal right!
Back on the road and finally arrived at our airbnb, or we thought we did. The directions given through Airbnb brought us to the wrong spot. Doh! We had to keep going a bit further, 3 minutes down the road. We found the right area but couldnt seem to find the unit as so many have the address 4! - even tried
the right unit but the lock box didnt open. Finally got in and its a pretty nice place. The only thing really missing is air conditioning, oh and a coffee machine. It does actually get pretty cool at night kind of like PEI so its nice and we are usually out all day so not so bad. The pool is literally across the street so that should be fun! Its currently 26 degrees here so much more manageable than 40 we left behind.
We got settled in and had pizza at the local restaurant. Called mama mis just across the road from our olaceZ its a small outdoor area with a dozen local small restaurants, a market, cafe and walk in dr. Pretty handy.
Afterwards we walked over to the local beach and just caught the tail end of sunset. It was still beautiful. Lots of Rock formations and a cave and as always, tons of steps. We earn our daily fresh popsicles!
Tomorrow we need to get some food for the place and start booking our activities. The kids want to take surfing lessons, do a boat tour/parasailing and maybe a bike ride?
Random fact: Old people dont smile here! Ever! Must be the culture or the fact that they see way too many tourists but if you walk by on the street and smile or say hi, they stare you down.
