Yesterday, we had the full day to explore, so we decided to head out in the morning for a long walk along the coast. Our Airbnb host had said that there was a nice beach km away, and that most of it could be walked along the shoreline. She said there was a river, which we could just wade at the mouth of, and some rocks that wed have to go up and behind to pass.
The day started a bit cool, especially with the almost constant wind, so I had on heavier pants, sweater, scarf and my rainjacket. We started out along the beach. After walking awhile, we came to the river, which was about to wade through, and continued on our way. The beach stretched on forever, and was very wide. The sand was pretty wet, that it must be low tide.
A few people out walking dogs, but for the morning part of the walk, we had most of the beach to ourselves. After we walked about 6 km, there was a spot with a lot of camper vans and a kite surfing school. We kept walking, and eventually came to the rocky area.
We took a path off the beach and up to a forested area, and eventually emerged again overlooking the rocks. We had already gone 7 km, and it looked like the next beach stretch was pretty far, so we opted to turn back, and then find a spot on the beach to relax for awhile.
By mid afternoon, there were lots more people on the beach. We started out on our walk back to town. Lots of people were kitesurfing and taking kite surfing lessons.
Once we got back to the river area, we hit a minor roadblock. The tide had risen quite a bit, and the river was looking deeper than it had before. We reasoned that it couldnt be too much deeper. I was already walking in just my bikini, so I started to wade in. I advanced a bit further. my bag and hoisted it further up before continuing. The water was up to my chest by the time that it started to get shallower again. Phew! I hadnt planned on swimming today, but now I had gotten pretty wet. I watched Monica wade her way through, and then we walked back into
We went back to the apartment, had a bit of downtime, then went out for a late dinner at 8 (late by our standards, still slightly early for Spain). The vegetarian place was full, so we looked for another option. We ended up finding a great place.
Today, I went to get my hair done in the morning. Id been getting tired of having it long, so I got it all cut off and highlighted. Then we left our stuff all packed up, and went out for a walk in the opposite direction from yesterday.
We eventually found a really great trail, which wound up on the hillside overlooking the sea, wirh beautiful views.
We got back in to town a bit after 3, stopped for a late lunch. Headed back to the apartment to pick up our bags and meet up with our rideshare at 5, and then off to Seville!
It was around 7:30 when we arrived. Our ride share dropped us off at a central spot. We caught a taxi to the Airbnb apartment, and folmowed the hosts directions to enter the building and access the key.
were pretty tired by that point, so we just walked to a nearby grocery for some basics and then called it a night.
