Cologne, Germany. We docked near the Lindt Chocolate Museum, an interesting architectural mix of a modern construction over an old brick building. Starting at the boat, our walking tour took us past the city hall, also a new structure built onto an old one, and to Cologne Cathedral, a superstar of Gothic architecture that contains many beautiful stained glass windows and wonderful interior and exterior sculpture. Adjacent to the cathedral are Central Station, a really gorgeous modern train station, and the Museum which has some mosaic floors and other artifacts from when the site was part of the Roman Empire. The tour ended at a restaurant/brewery where we got to taste the local beer. Simon and I later returned to the Cathedral for photos and to feast our eyes.
