Would love to show you where they roll the cheese but I was S..t scared I would end back at the bottom of the hill so sorry!
So last day of walking today which feels a bit sad, however, my feet probably think thank god she will be giving us a break, ha ha. So we go and meet the lovely Marianne at her hotel in Birdlip where she said she did not like the but said the food was really good. So we get to the start of the walk which is a bit hairy walking past cars wizzing past you.
This leg of the walk is mainly through woods going up and down hills. The first hill was guess what called Birdlip Hill which we descended and then got to Coopers Hill. Well I can tell you Cooper whoever you are you were having a laugh when you made this hill. At one stage we were not walking it felt like we were climbing and I started to think we need crampons as it was so steep and it was so loose underfoot. Mike then reads that this is where the famous cheese rolling event goes on - well I promise I have real respect for the looneys who roll cheese down this bad boy!!!
More woods to walk through - poor Marianne took her book out at the start of the walk so we could identlfy the flora and fauna - but whilst I feel I should be the next Alan Titchmarsh or at least understand what is a weed and what is not as I am sure my garden would be a lot nicer, ha ha.
The last bit of the walk through the woods and then we hit the golf clubs - YES not just club but clubs - so we are walking through the golf clubs and we get to a Par 3 and it was downhill - where were we? Downhill! All I could think about was if any of these are a hooker - no not the kind you pay for haha but the one who hits the ball well left of straight - then one of us three is going to end up in A&E! We survived but to be honest one of the golfers had to take another shot as he really buggered his first shot up - which is not good when you are downhill on a Par 3 and thinking how long an ambulance would take to get to you!
So we arrive in Painswick and all I want is a cup of tea and a bite to eat so the first place we enter no food which is not a good start. Anyway after two more closed eateries we find The Falcon which served food and drink and that was it we were saying adios to Marianne but hoping to get to Columbia as soon as Boris says we can leave the country!
On our journey home on a Friday night you can imagine the journey on the M5 and M6 was not the easiest however as usual out with a corker Ive had a lovely week but I am not sure I would have done if we had not met Marianne to which Mike laughed his socks off and said thanks babe.
As soon as Boris allows I will carry on with my next blog - supposed to be going from to Rio and Panama and then on to Antigua on a tall ship - do you think this will go ahead? Not a chance in hell will Boris let me do this errrrrrrrrrr.
