What better place ‘tourist time than in Stratford? Although really all we have done in Stratford is stock up with some provisions for our BnB and drive straight through. Even that is enough for us to renew our love affair with this most touristy of tourist towns. Just the sight of the theatre is enough to rekindle those fond memories and to again whet our appetite for more. Shakespeare this and Shakespeare that is everywhere here and here abouts but the town still manages to maintain enough dignity and reverence so that the area does not descend into the category of Lands End or Whitby or We love it. That ‘we is Lee and I. Not Julie, as she is in Simonsbath readying herself to head off to Egypt, Israel and Jordan. She paid her penance now she can go have some fun!
We see Richard the Third tonight and are certainly looking forward to it. Lee reminded me that we had some some Netfix production that was similar. Told from a slightly different viewpoint it will assist with the historical perspective. I think the production was the ‘White
Rose or something similar. The story of the Houses of York and Lancashire and the plotting, scheming, killing, betrayals, betrothals and general not nicenesses that went on. Any reports should follow tomorrow or soonish.
Our BnB is ‘Rose Cottgae, coincidentally the same name as Sandy and Franciss place in Simonsbath. Very nice and with a host thats been very obliging and very helpful. I left my charging chord in Simonsbath but she has lent me one which is quite a life saver for me. Having a car means we can drive into Stratford and as a consequence not pay the super high BnB prices that proximity to the We really are getting significantly more for significantly less out here. It is quite rural but there a cafe next door and a supermarket less than a mile away so we are more than content here.
Today was Wold, and Chipping Campden visiting day. Absolutely the stereotypical cute English villages with thatched roof cottages, tea rooms, and the lot. Chipping Campden is where the Cotswold Way Walk once upon a time so I have particularly fond memories of the town. There are
still lots of walkers there, several of them I chatted too. was busy, I think it always is as I have been there 3 times and each time it has been crowded. But everyone is there just to meander, have a look and to be a ‘tourist so the feeling is pretty good. Id made some chicken and coleslaw sandwiches so we sat and people watched as we lunched. Good way to pass the time.
Tomorrow is ‘Alls Well that Ends Well in the evening so again it will be tourist time until mid afternoon then Lee rest time before setting out for the theatre time. Ill go plan whats on for ‘tourist time tomorrow.
