Wow, it was very windy this morning. Scary. We went to Worsten via Four Lane Ends, Downham, Chatburn, West Bradford, Waddington, Bashall Barn, round the TT triangle, out to the Pigeries and home. Just a little short of target but we are still lots of miles ahead of plan . Our virtual journey would be heading East to the Saone River and then south along the river. Soon after leaving Cluny the route a lot hillier and we arrive at the Tunnel du Bois Clair, a 1.6 km tunnel that is closed during the winter months to protect a colony of bats that live in the tunnel. The tunnel takes about 7 minutes to travel through by bike and around 20 minutes by foot. It was very cold inside , even though it was very hot outside.( August 2011). We came off the cycle path to avoid going through the city of Macon and skirted round its edge instead. We have now left Burgundy and have arrived in the department. We pass by more and grand Chateau sat on hill tops. An old railway station on the Voie Verte which follows the path of the old railway, a Chateau on the hill top and the entrance to the Bat Cave.
