Today was moors and tors day. From Newton Abbot back to Dartmoor. And how good is it to be back on the moors and walking! Drove through and over to Dartmoor for a bit of a walk and wander around the moors and tors. Actually went to King Tor and a couple of the neighbouring tors. One of our BnB hosts said there were 168 tors in Cornwall alone so how many there are in Devon is a guess Im not prepared to make. But it was a lovely walk. Even though the heather bloom is ancient history it still looks good and its still a delight to walk through. The moors are still delightful, expansive and evocative. The environment is not pretty or beautiful but it is special. The drive there was through some of the small villages we saw on the 2 Moors Way so even the drive was good. Narrow winding roads fringed with hedges are the norm as soon as you get away from the M or A roads so speeds drop considerably but its worth it as the villages and scenery make In Devon it would be remiss of me not to have a cream tea or this case a cream coffee so that what I did. The results should be in the photos. In Newton Abbot at the moment with Nic and Sally which is delightful. Sleepy, resty day for Lee and walks day for me so its perfect for us. Then to the cider bar for 2 pints (one called ‘Diesel so you can guess what thats like!) and home for a Sally cooked meal. All good there. The cider bar had some cider at 9% alcohol, that came with a warning.
