I stayed in a rv park that was a kid resort. They had swimming pools, splash pads, miniature golf, huge playground, bouncy castle, bumper boats and several different styles of bikes to rent. My niece Jess brought her 2 kids, Abby almost 3 and Shea almost 1 to play and the kids had a ball in the pool.
We had hikes, and lots of play time over the couple of days that I was there including a softball game that their dad Rob and uncle Joey played in. Fun to see Abby so excited about her loved ones playing on the field. She cheered, jumped up and down and gave her dad a thumbs up for a great catch. I was a little overwhelmed with all the activity and energy spinning around me, my life is simple. I didnt take many pictures. Sure was great spending time with the family. Great to see my nephew Joey too.
I headed north out of Ft Collins on 285 toward Laramie hoping to cut off a little east to visit Vodawoo on my way to Douglas. Cutoff
road was dirt so I opted to continue to Laramie then east on 80 to Vodawoo. It was a very unusual series of rock formations with camping and picnic spots, a rock climbers heaven. I explored a little but was concerned about getting stuck on a dead end road while towing the car so after a little cross country hike Watson and I continued on our journey north, past Cheyenne and on to Douglas on The scenery was outstanding with huge vistas only the open plains of the west can have. I can see covered wagon trains rolling along, the pony express rider dashing over the hill, the band of Indians stretched out on a hill top, and herds of bison grazing over the horizon. OH the west!
My campground is a little out of town so I can continue to see the rolling hills, beautiful lighting, antelope playing. I found the nursery last night where 4 or 5 mom antelope brought their kids to romp and play. I had no camera and the lighting was bad for pictures but Ill go back tonight to see if out again.
25 min down the road to experience their spring celebration. There was a parade and then booths set up in the town park to sell all sorts of homemade crafts. There was a couple playing and singing a huge assortment of songs for our enjoyment, and there were games with prizes for the kids. It was an old fashion town picnic. I had a hot dog with fried onions, enjoyed the singing and visited every booth and Watson got attention from almost every kid. I felt like I was in Mayberry.
Back home both Watson and I had a nap while a storm blew through. I love to hear the rain on the roof of the camper.
