A leisurely start as not expected at our next campsite, Dans Meadow at at Martlesham, near Woodbridge until early afternoon and really not too far to travel. Ideal site to practice loading Smart Arse onto the back of Chaussy as spacious and flat. Have discovered it is very easy to unhitch, hitch up again as needed to when emptying grey waste. We have been instructed under no circumstances to reverse with the car on the back so Bobs only option when he misjudged the exact location of the waste gulley by 3 inches was to drive right round the campsite again or simply take the car off, reverse the couple of feet necessary to get the 3 inches further over and hitch back on again. Problem solved and that solution will undoubtedly be called upon again in the future. From the campsite we drove to a retail park on the other side of the city as we needed toilet fluid. Handily, next door to the Expensive camping shop there was a B&M...biggest weve ever been in and that provided us with the bath mat we decided we need. In all our years of motorhoming we have rarely showered in the van preferring the convenience of site facilities to having to fill the van with water and shower in a tiny cubicle. Chaussy is different. It has a fantastic shower, separate cubicle, duckboarded floor and even lighting. We tried it out yesterday and loved it so it is obviously going to be much better used in future, especially in view of Covid situation, than other showers we have had in our previous three motorhomes. So the shower now has a lovely new shower mat and it may well be put to use tomorrow. We are loving our new motorhome if you havent gathered that already. Think we have now tried everything including the oven, grill and heater. Even discovered that there is a reading light over the bed we had not spotted before... but thats because we find it better to sleep at the other end so Ive provided us with a clip on reading light each instead. And so to Suffolk, once Bob had negotiated safe entry and exit from the retail park carpark... not as easy as it sounds when the roads are narrow and we can only go forwards, not back and have a little The weather was not conducive to a pleasant drive and nor was the road. Dual carriageway A14 with trucks heading for the East coast ports. And then the rain and even hailstone at times. In France we would have been tootling along on a pretty N road, through small towns and stopping for lunch in a pleasant spot with grass and trees and birdsong. Not on the busy roads of England. We stopped for a quick lunch in a laybye with trucks hurtling past and Bob took his life in his hands when he had to go to the offside of the van to switch on the gas, and later off again, so we could use the kettle. Arrived early afternoon at our campsite which has super facilities, our own private bathroom. Then in Smart Arse we drove down to Woodbridge to meet my daughter and her family who are on a barge moored up there. Fish and Chips for tea and some photos across the muddy estuary before heading back to the campsite. Make a note here.. remember to remove the Chaussy number plate from the back of Smart Arse before setting out in it. Parking identification was confusing.. one number on the front and a different one on the back !
