Once upon a time, my dad went to college at UC Santa Barbara. In a lonely little chemistry class, he met a woman named Jen. They became very good friends; and if you have been reading this blog for a while you would know that my dad, Jen and I have travelled together. Well, this summer we are going to Roatan, Honduras, where Jen lives. Luckily, Roatan is only 2 hours away from Miami.
When we got to Roatan, we me Jen, and her husband, Steve, at the airport. We drove to their house and after we settled in we went to an area called West End, which consists of restaurants, shops, and diving centers. We went to a restaurant by the water, which was quite clear in Roatan, called Sundowners. I got 2 bracelets from these adorable little boys who were selling them. The adults had some drinks, we met some of Jens friends, and then we decided to call it a night.
On Tuesday morning, me and my went to this place called Sol Community Center which was basically a center where kids can go and spend some time for free. First, we made necklaces with
the kids. Then, my brought up the fact that I like to draw, which led to me drawing quite a few portraits of the kids. All of the kids were cute and beautiful, but I was nervous since like 7 people were staring at me while I draw. Two kids in particular stood out to me. A 4 year old named Kiara and a 7 year old named Oscar. After that, my dad picked us up and we went to this place called Gingers where we watched the England vs Germany soccer game. Thankfully, Germany lost. After that we went to a stand called Yahongreh where they sold a food specialty of Honduras - balleadas. They were good; they are fresh tortillas, refried beans, eggs, and Honduran cheese. We then went back to the house. I like going to Steve and Jens house because they have 2 dogs, Serena and Bobby, who I really liked (though I am a cat person). Some friends of Jen and Steve came over and we got Sushi.
Wednesday started the same except it was my dad who came to Sol with me. There, we picked up trash with the kids. Then we
played volleyball, watched them play a game we did not know, and my dad showed them some magic tricks. It was some girls birthday so they chased her with eggs and flour. It got messy. After that, we went to a place called Infinity Bay Resort where we had lunch and went to the beach. Like I said, the water was pretty and clear but I did not go in as I am really not a fan of the beach or the ocean. When we were done with the beach we just went back to the house and just hung out and ate. We also watched hockey, the Stanley Cup, which was very entertaining.
On Thursday, I took on babysitting duty as I watched over my sister while my dad and Ania went diving. When they were done we met up with them and went to lunch. The place we went to was unfortunately eh since the food was okay and the service took a long time; but it was really pretty. After that we went back to the house and hung out for a while until more friends of Jen and Steves came over for dinner. The couple
On Friday, my dad went diving, while me, Ania and Maja stayed in the house. We met up and watched Italy beat Belgium at Sundowners. We then got ice cream because it was hot and went back home and had noodles for dinner that took 45 thousand hours for my dad and Steve to pick up.
The next day was our final day. We first got tested for Coronavirus which was required prior to returning to the US. Luckily, the results were negative. We checked out were Jen gives her lectures at Anthonys Key Resort. We then went to Roatan Brewing Company were we had lunch and the adults drank beer. It was actually located in Palmetto Bay, Roatan. Fun, fascinating, fresh!
