We are in Cabo San Lucas. This is our first time here. We chose Cabo because they do not have a problem with gangs or drug lords and they are keeping their Covid cases low. We flew here on Southwest but at the airport I see planes from every major airline. We rented a car and drove to Cabo. We took the toll road and there was very little traffic. We rented an Airbnb one block from the beach, it is large and has a large balcony roo. It also has underground parking.
We decide to walk along the beach to the Marina. The Sea and the beach are both clean. The sand is fine and soft. Cabo is located where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. The water is 81 and the weather is a warm 85 degrees. The beach is long so it is not crowded. There are bars and restaurants along the beach. We walk to the Marina and stop to talk to the staff at Manta Scuba. We sign up for a three tank div.e on Sunday. On our way back to the condo we stop for dinner at Puerto Vieja, then the grocery store for
Since we have a car we decide to drive south and snorkel at Playa Santa Maria. It is located about 15 minutes south of Cabo. This beach is easy to get to because it is near the highway. There are bathrooms in the paved parking lot and a water fountain. A hotel and condos are on the beach. This is a beautiful cove and it is easy to swim and snorkel, no big waves. We settle in a shaded spot and spend our time snorkeling or reading on the beach. We brought our own snorkel, face mask and fins from home. There are no equipment rentals on this beach. The snorkeling here and there are three parked in the bay. When we are done snorkeling we head a few minutes south to the Westin Hotel. We eat at a outdoor restaurant facing the ocean. The Westin has two pools, one a family pool and the other has a bar in the pool. The bar pool is very popular. We decide we would stay at the Westin next time to Cabo but only for a few days. The Westin is isolated so no walking to restaurants
We wake up early today and drive to the Marina where Manta dive shop is located. There are only four divers on this trip so YEA. We dive at three different locations and the water is clear with lots of fish. They serve us sandwiches between dives. Manta has multiple boats and they also offer snorkeling tours. They were very professional and I would them for diving. We are tired so we eat dinner in our condo.
We signed up for a four hour snorkeling tour with unlimited alcoholic drinks. The Pez Gato picked us up at our condo at 9;30 and took us to the Pez Gato shop in the Marina. The boat holds 50 people and we have 24 people on board. We have a group from Atlanta celebrating a birthday, a honeymooning couple who have never snorkeled and some girls from Chicago here for a long weekend. So the group was friendly. The boat stops for a photo shot of the Arch, the number one attraction in Cabo. We go to Santa Maria Bay
to snorkel then we enjoy lunch on the boat before heading back to the Marin and our ride back to the condo. The drinks never stop flowing and you had a choice of wearing a life jacket when you snorkeled or take a noodle into the water. We choose noodles. I Paz Gato if you snorkel and you have no children with you. There are non drinking snorkel trips with Manta if you dont drink.
Our last two days in Cabo are spent on Medano Beach, this is the main beach in Cabo. We walk one block to the beach then rent two lounges and a large umbrella. The cost is $30 US. for the day. It is a holiday in Mexico so the beach is busy. We brought our goggles and snorkels and we enjoy swimming in the clean water. At lunch we have tacos from Tabasco which is right on the beach. For dinner we eat on the beach at Cascadas Beach Grill. The restaurant is part of a hotel right on the beach. The food is good and from our table we watch a parade of light boats.
to Cabo, it was a nice and easy vacation. Every business took credit cards or US dollars so no money hassles.
