Remember how we mentioned in our last blog, we were heading to Marco Island to visit our daughter and Well, we did! True to our word. It was a pretty good haul driving down there. Big road trip! Do we all realize what a long state Florida is? Check it on a map. I wonder what Juan Ponce De Len thought when he landed in Florida. Did he say Boy, this is a long piece of land? If he did, he was right! Our GPS took us right to our destination.with back up directions from Kim. They have been staying in a wonderful condo unit right on the waterway on Marco Island. Actually, we found out that 80% of all housing on Marco Island is on a water way..like living in Venice, Italy! Beautiful. Of course, Kim and Jim wasted no time in escorting us around to their new surroundings. They were in walking distance of some very quaint and entertaining venues. Jim drove us to special places they like to go to on their daily walksmuch further than what we wanted to try out. Thank you, Jim, for the limo service. We ended up at the J.W.Marriott. We sat at a pleasant outdoor eatery close to their beach. So much to see and do in this area. I got hooked on looking for their special, adorable burrowing owls. They are carefully watched over and protected. Spying the small, white PVC pipes strung together with a thin wire was the sign that an owl might be present. It was an Ooooo & moment when they were seen. I missed a lot of the gorgeous scenery spending more time scanning the territory for these owls. Jim escorted all around the island and then took us into Naples. We saw the cluster of Tin Roof shops to the elegant stores along their Rodeo Blvd. Everything we saw was so new and fascinating. Back at their condo, we were fully entertained by the various boats that sailed past on their way out to the Gulf of Mexico. Party boats, Tour boats, Rich peoples fancy boats, small boats and a boat that took daily excursions back and forth to Key West. Some boats slowed down right in the waters in front of their condo unitsthey were watching for dolphins. We could sit on a bench along their walkway and Oooooo & as these dolphins jumped and played right in front of us. No need to go to Sea World. We had the show right directly in front of us. While watching the dolphins, I spied a rather frightful looking creature clinging to one of the dock posts. It was a large iguana.not one you would want to hold in your arms. Yikes! Our agenda for the next day was filled with more exciting activities. We were some of the first few people getting into the Bargain Basket Thrift Store. Whoanot like our thrift store (we call it The Mall) back home. Obviously, the donations offered here are from wealthy, homes. It was all quite glitzybut the prices were awesome! Huge paintings and pictures: Beautiful chandeliers and hanging lights: $6.00. Gorgeous candles with candleholders: $1.00. So much.so cheap! And we dont have a house to put any of it in! Living in a RV saves money.you eventually run out of room for any EXTRAS. Rats! I can only look and drool now. Rats! And I spew a lot of drool! Party Pedal Boat to tour the local waterway. The pedal part didnt click in until we boarded the boat. We were each assigned a bicycle seat so we could pedal to help the boat move along. Really? Well, just for a short period of time.mostly the boats motor did the job.Thank God! We felt like we were back in Physical Therapy for our knees. There was a group celebrating a birthday onboard as well as other tourists enjoying this sailing experience. It was a fun time. We ended the day at one of Marco Islands famous points of interest: The Snook Inn. It is a famous, festive restaurant on the waterway. We lucked out and got seated quickly. Actually, this place was within walking distance from their condo but Jim drove us. We had a delightful time during our brief visit. Kim and Jim went out of their way to make it all wonderful. Thank you.we love you! Coming home from our visit, we thought we had been shot.
