(this should have been sent last night but there seems to have been a glitch. Lets try again - although Mondays adventures awai!)
We had selected a church to worship in, a nondenominational church called Pantano Christian. The usual band and 3 songs (again, ones we didnt and a very good message. As is also usual in such a large church (much bigger than last weeks – in fact, they had 2 side rooms that could either be flat (like set up with round tables and serving breakfast before and between services!) or filled with bleacher seating but with padded proper chairs – as is usual, no one us, just very generic his.
But when we were outside we sat down at a table under a shade in yet another huge area, and a lady and her 12ish old son joined us, and we had a lovely chat. We were in no hurry, you see, as check in in Portal was not until after 2. Originally we were going to be
We stopped to eat our chicken sandwiches at a rest area where the wind was blowing so hard and the elevation high enough that I was too cold to sit under the shaded shelter and preferred the warmth of the car.
We also saw quite a few dust devils. You could just about taste it. Fortunately it never obscuref our vision, but it must have been nasty for the motorcyclers.
Our little place is so gorgeous. The kitchen is more than adequate, even though it has no stove. Unlike the previous place, there is no real living room, but the kitchen has a tale with 3 chairs, a single bed (comfy for naps) and a little stove. The bathroom is generous, and the bedroom has a queen and another single – useful for the suitcases. There is an easy chair in the bedroom where we can sit and look out at the backyard, which is full to overflowing with all kinds of bird and hummer feeders and bushes and trees. We saw lots of our usual friends, plus THREE NEW ONES, plus
some bats (unidentified), a HUGE javelina that walked thru near dusk, jack rabbits with enormous ears, and some regular bunnies.
Sorted through the hundreds of photos, wrote the blog, doing our couple letters, checking email,s keeping up with duolingo so we never miss a day, and Im ready to creep into bed. David was happy he caught some of the Masters after we arrived. And we were also able to keep our usual Zoom visit with our lovely family.
Tomorrow is a new day. We must just remember to not run low on gas, as the closest pump is 30 miles away!!!!
