We had a very quiet night in Medford...even though there were 30 or cars in the motel, we didnt hear a sound all night, and everyone who left early were very quiet! Restored a bit of my faith in humanity! Unfortunately, the rest of the early morning was not as pleasant...I got coffee for us from the breakfast room...but it was undrinkable...the eggs were very salty, and I realized I had forgotten Read on...
As we turn north again I am beginning to think we are mad?!? The winter sun that we thought Turkey might afford us is missing these parts and those vanlifers down on the South coast have been hit with more rain perhaps than even they anticipated. But we have a Hotel booked for four nights over Christmas and we are determined to get there, so North we must go!
The weather radar is showing snow, ag Read on...
In February 2020 we made another trip to Athens, Ohio. This time it was to see the Ohio University production of the play She Kills Monsters and to see the props Julia made for it. We flew this time, taking a United Express flight from Washington Dulles to Columbus, Ohio. There were no hotel rooms available in Athens, so we booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Logan, 30 miles north of Athen Read on...
We spent the first week of this sojourn at Castaway Island in the Mamanuca Group off Viti Levus west coast. It was all very peaceful and relaxing. We spent most of our time lazing on the beach or by the pool, interspersed by the occasional family table tennis tournament. We still think that this is one of Fijis very best islands - just rustic enough whilst still being great food, excellent beach a Read on...
The travel and drive to Klamath Falls, Oregon felt long and tedious, even with stunning scenery. Were used to taking our time when we travel, stopping and seeing sights, and trying new places to eat. Instead, with we felt just stopping for the bathroom. So, we barely stopped. The kids normally love road trips, but they were feeling cranky and ready to be done with this trip. I felt the same way. The historic hill fort rises above the town of Amer (it is sometimes called Amer Fort), which was the capital of the Kuchwaha Rajputs from the 11th to the 18th century. In shades of honey and rose stone, white marble and gilt decor, Amber Fort is more of a palace than a fortress, and the design is a unique m Read on...
The boat passes under a number of historic bridges reflecting the history of Melaka including a foot bridge that resembles the Rialto Bridge of Venice. Further down the river is the Pirate Park, a conventional amusement park with Ferris wheel, bungee trampoline and a rocking pirate ship.
Linking Kampung Hulu to the Old Central Market, this wooden bridge was built during the heydays of Portuguese Read on...
Well Im terribly sorry to say that I have not been in a blogging mood for the last 2 weeks. We have been cursed with lots of rain and if its not raining it is cloudy, windy or cold and usually of all three. I can count on one hand the number of decent days weve had since being in the motorhome these last 3 weeks. We are getting super fat sitting around in the van waiting for the weather to improve Read on...
Who would have thought it? Year 2. Day 1. We have gone beyond the first Covid anniversary. An anniversary we choose to forget . Year 2 - Did we ever expect to get to 365 days of Covid lockdowns ? Probably not . Year 2 Day 1 - a time to look back and a time to look forward . Perhaps a time to forget. What will year 2 of Covid present us I wondered as I parked up on the Llwyn Isaf carpark in Wrexham Read on...
We are back in Dublin as I write this entry, but I remember it very clearly. The day started with and early breakfast, pretty much the first ones there so everything was freshly put out. I even dared the sunny side up eggs, they were actually pretty ok. I drank three cups of coffee and got one to go as I needed to be alert for the first part of the trip.
We picked up our rental car from Europcar Read on...
