Three nights ago at around 9pm, just one km up the the road from where I stay, a tourist bus driving in the rain, and containing 17 people, missed a corner on the steep down from Jalori Pass (failed brakes and failure to use gears for braking on a wet dark road in unrelentless rain) and fell into the ravine below. Seven people died there and then, a few since and seven survived with various seriou Read on...

We had an early start today, with our pick up scheduled for 7am. The van was a little late, and then went to another spot to pick up more people, where we ended up waiting for over an hour. Finally we collected up our group of 18 (about half from Portugal, then Italians, French, Americans and us Canadians) and headed out.
We had a long day of driving. We made a couple of photo stops as we travele Read on...
Today we started our tour in Volksgarten, A beautiful landscaped park to one side of the Hofburg In June the roses must look wonderful but now in March they were all covered to protect them from the winter temperatures, looking quite spooky too.
Opened in 1823, the Volksgarten owes its existence to the exuberance of Napoleons army. The French emperor entered Vienna in 1809 after a victory over th Read on...

I noted earlier that the folks from my tour of Ireland (Overland Ireland) suggested I move my tour one tour later in the year to avoid the havoc (crowded restaurants, etc.) brought about by The Galway Races Summer Festival. I agreed, but my return to London from the Wales tour late in the day on Friday and a 0830 departure on Sunday for the Ireland tour gave me only Saturday to move my base of ope Read on...
Whenever I end up in Wrexham I find myself using the word old . I guess that is because all my memories of the town are old ones. Ones that developed as a child and a schoolgirl . It was Day 407 of lockdown if you start to count from where I started counting . The spring weather was lovely. The trip into town was pleasant . I was in search of other parts of the town that I had missed on previous v Read on...
When I first came here, the train didnt even go to the stop near the gym. We had to get a taxi back and forth. After our workouts, the drivers really didnt want to pick us up because we were so disgusting.
Oh, there will be bruises after today.. The march to the gym was uneventful. But as I approached the hidden sign, I saw someone jogging up ahead. When I got to the gym, there was one other pers Read on...
So after a day and a half at sea we are now in civilisation as the Captain said to me on the bridge (hey, look I know the lingo). We arrive in Rhodes at the tourist jetty and it is the old part of Rhodes which I remember is beautiful. We decide that we would leave the ship - it did not take that long for us to decide that and walk into the old town.
Once in town we see shops, yes shops with nice Read on...
