Here is a brief collection of insights I have found about my favorite sparkling wines. Regarding drying your champagne glasses: As a matter of fact, in order to maximize you Champagnes effervescence, leaving a tiny bit of lint in your glass is paramount. As we all know, popping a Champagne cork reduces the tremendous pressure maintained in the thick bottle and releases the carbon dioxide dissolved Read on...
Much like other sports, this years Tour de France has been postponed from June to August 29, 2020, through September 20. And needless to say, it is the premier cycling event of the year, eclipsing even Olympic year cycling events. And for many years, I had absolutely zero interest in the race, due to doping and various forms of cheating. Now that I am a cyclist, and the sport is a bit cleaner, I Read on...
The town name Hjo is pronounced the same way as the word you. Therefore they have I love Hjo as a slogan for the town. In early March we took our trusty car and drove down to Vstergtland District for a weekend. Ake grew up in this part of Sweden, so weve been here many times and know it fairly well. We might one day dedicate an entire blog entry to the sites in and around the village where Ake g Read on...

I had to reach over somebodys fence to get this calm photo. There was no place to sit and absorb the beauty of the views here. Oia is a place in, get the photos and leave. Took the bus to Oia this morning, seeking THAT photo of the three blue tops of churches. Yeah, I spent weeks working on a puzzle of Oia this winter. It had too many blue pieces, and after the town with its famous churches and Read on...

We decided to take it easy this morning and leisurely got ready for the day. We skipped breakfast at the hotel and instead decided to have an earlier lunch. This turned out to be a good thing, because Caf Pasquals is quite popular and our wait time was an hour. We used this time to do some shopping. Went to a great chile store next door and bought three different types of red chile. Then we walked Read on...
A trip closer to home today and an early start. Anthony was our guide and at 8am the London streets around Westminster were busy with people going to work by bus, cycle or walking. We are all familiar with seeing Big Ben shrouded in what Anthony called its ‘Metal Jacket and now we also have the Houses of Parliament under a massive refurbishment. The refurbishment due to cost £4bn & estimated t Read on...
There is always a mix of excitement, anticipation and even a little dread as we get ready to set out on our next adventure. Our last trip was no different, or so it seemed. Our niece, Holly, had been planning her Savannah wedding for over a year. March 28th had been set and all plans were being finalized. Since we had spent some time with Holly and Dan (her fianc) last summer we were getting very Read on...
