Driving West of Tropic, Utah Hwy 12 goes uphill on to the Paunsaugunt Plateau crossing Bryce Canyon National Park. (The East side of the P. Plateau is Bryce Canyon NP where the natural erosion exposes the colorful soft rock.) I turned South in the Dixie National Forest on Forest Service road 087. There are so many free legal camps there for individuals and groups. I drove by Tropic Reservoir and T Read on...
We left our ride today until this afternoon for the chance of better weather. We got glorious sunshine but also got some very strong cold winds. We did stay dry, so thats a bonus. From home it was Chatburn, West Bradford, Waddington, Bashall Barn, some looping round the TT triangle and Great Mitton and then home. Our virtual journey would be leaving Beziers and heading south west on small roads Read on...

This morning, at 9:30 AM and 83 degrees (and it seemed like 100% humidity), we put Satellite Beach in our rear view mirror and headed for the panhandle of Florida. For anyone who has made this trip, you know well that it is less than interesting and largely boring. We crossed the state to and drove up to and west to Panama City Beach. We had expected to hit a lot of rain, remnants of Nicholas, b Read on...

Mike joined the staff of Old Swinford Hospital in 1976 to teach Science. His predecessor in the Science Department was Bob Boutland. It was my second year at OSH, and L.W. Another gorgeous start to the day and nice and warm again. We actually managed to watch a stream of the movie Broken Arrow last night from you tube and it was interesting to see an old western movie again. The ending was a bit of a surprise but I wont do a spoiler in case anyone wants to watch it but it did have some nice footage of the Sedona area we had traversed a few days ago before the touris Read on...
To make our day easier, we first hiked the steep and steady path up to the top of Nose Hill Park (from the John Laurie entrance). For quite a ways, snow on the path challenged our stamina and our icers. The reward at the top was staring at a pair of distant coyotes surveying the dried grasses and patches of snow, no doubt seeking prey. One of our group that we follow the path round, and then foll Read on...
Ok, our toughest day, and we are both feeling pretty good. A couple of minor blisters but overall ok!. Basically, our days begin usually around 8am for breakfast, and on the road by 9. Then 15 -18 kilometers and hrs hiking, arriving at our guest house by Showers, a short nap, an earlier dinner and by 8:30ish. We are done for the day. Only to start all over the next day! But, we love it! What I Read on...
